Not just that. Parents would have to pivot as well. Where is their leave and childcare coming from at the very last minute?

Not anyones problem. County has child care vouchers for low income and high income parents either hire help or should have saved their leave. Your kids, your problem.

“ScHoOl iS nOt cHilDcArE.”

We know that, Marge, but let’s not pretend that the US hasn’t basically built upon the school schedule for the past 50+ years.

Given Covid, you should have learned that and knew there was a possibility of another surge this year. Not rocket science.

Sure, because having children is just like any other eccentric, expensive personal hobby, like scuba diving or dressage!

How are your kids someone else’s problem?

It’s everyone’s problem when people can’t work because of childcare issues. Haven’t the last 2 years made that clear?

Closing schools is not going to stop the spread of COVID when bars, restaurants, concert venues, and offices are all open for business.

This attitude is why we are here in the first place. No concern for society as a whole - this is no different than the philosophy of the anti-mask/anti-vax crowd.

How is it that you're so simple-minded? Or are you just a troll?

Yes, it's not like kids are people or anything. They're just personal possessions, like fondue sets or cars.

Then, you fight for your interest. I fight for mine. Majority wins. Deal with it!

Your kids, your responsibility, sorry. I’m sure someone will fill your job if you can’t manage both.

How is your covid anxiety my problem?

Let’s not forget that the moms can do yoga, but our kids’ afterschool yoga class is clearly a health danger since MCPS cancelled all extra curricular activities for now.

It's not. Thankfully all of society continues to be open despite the handwringing from posters like above.

I'll be honest. I'm one of the biggest critics of MCPS' response to Covid.

But Monifa's approach seems pretty reasonable. Putting clear numbers around when an individual school would be assessed for temporary closures, but no system wide closure.

That is really as good as its gonna get
Anonymous
Lol. Monifa asks local businesses to "ask their customers if they've signed up their children for routine testing"

If any business owner asks me that, they'll get a quick MYOFB
