Thinking of a Disney cruise to Bahamas at Xmas time. Very expensive-- 2 times the normal rate.
Anyone been and is it worth it? Is the water temp ok for kids? |
| Good question, I'm wondering the same |
| depends on which part of the bahamas...Freeport is colder than Nassau; and is the pool heated? |
| Hit or miss like florida that time of year. Can be swimming or sweatshirt weather. |
| We went to Freeport (not on a cruise) for Christmas a few years ago. It was warm, but not hot. We were perfectly comfortable at the beach and in the ocean during the day, but occasionally needed a sweatshirt at night. I expect you'd be fine in port, but probably a bit cold on deck while the boat is traveling. |
+1. It really depends on the year. We regularly go for the week after Christmas and through New Year's. We usually stay on an island in the Exumas after flying into Nassau. Most of the time the water has been warm enough for swimming but sometimes the air isn't as warm as I'd like. |
| Also post under the travel discussion forum. You'll probably get good feedback there too. |
| I think the weather really varies. I went to Nassau in early December once and regretted it. It was too cool for me to swim or enjoy the beach. It was nice walking around weather but I couldn't enjoy relaxing at the pool without being covered by towels. |
| We did the cruise one year at the beginning of November. It was a little chilly. Kids would do the aquaduck and run and hop in the pool because they were cold and it is windy up there. The water was cool at their island. Better to play on the beach then in the water. |
| Having done our first Disney cruise this July, I would suggest just going to a caribbean resort for a few days instead of the Disney cruise. It was not worth the cost and you'll have a lot more pool/beach space at a resort and a lot better food choices. Unless your kids LOVE seeing people dressed up as the Disney characters -- you are better off going to a resort. |
| I don't know if it's heated, but all three pools are very small. I grudgingly went to the kids pool once with my then 5 year old. Not a place I wanted to spend a lot of time. |
Sorry, if "they" are heated |
You are confirming what I suspected. (Np here) a 5 star all inclusive in the Caribbean is less than a Disney cruise. |
| Thanks for the feedback. I think I will save my 10k. |
I'm the pp who suggested going to a resort....I am certain you are making the right choice....don't buy the hype. We're $6k lighter b/c of our july disney cruise and it was not worth it. |
