As a veteran of 5 Disney cruises, all I can say is their are a lot of poor shoppers on these boards. We paid about $3,000 for the 3 of us for our last weeklong cruise, and that was with a verandah. Child still remembers it and asks to go regularly. |
|
We've always enjoyed our Disney cruises - another veteran - but went during Spring Break to both the Bahamas and Caribbean and weather was perfect. I would think it could be chilly or warm, but not hot.
I never minded the characters - the shows are fabulous, entertainment is abundant, and the food was good. We never had any complaints. If we did decide to go to a resort, it would be Atlantis. |
| To the PP who only paid 3K for a Disney Cruise. Did you go during school vacation? (ie Spring Break, summer or Christmas). Those are the only time we can go, and I have never seen anything less than 6-7K for 4 people for a family verandah. |
Our $6k involved 6 people (3 rooms) ...all paid for by us. Thx for claiming superiority. |
Forgot to say that it would have been more if we flew and paid for transportatio. We drove from dc, so that saved $1500. |
| We are going this fall. Six people, six flights and two cabins for under $5k. |
What costs $2k during the school year (and hurricane season) costs $4k during summer, xmas, tgiving, and spring break. Fall is not comparable to summer or xmas pricing. |
| I realize that, pp. Merely sharing info for price comparison. If the OP's kids are in elementary school, then she should consider doing the cruise at a less expensive time. Honestly, everyone should consider traveling with kids before they hit middle school (and it isn't as easy to miss school). |
That goes for every vacation pretty much during times kids are out of school! Every kid-centered trip is sky high at Christmas, Easter and summertime. Yes, we take advantage of days off in the fall. We just add 3 more days to 2 days off, and get our good deal. Totally worth it. |
What time of year did you go? |
| The Disney Cruise is fantastic and Christmas takes it to a whole other level. The decorations are spectacular and the activities are tailored for the holidays. We love it and have been on 6. Don't listen to the haters. People have different tastes and need not spoil it for others. I do not know of anybody who has been on it and has not had a wonderful time. |
| I went in Jan this year on Disney cruise. Freezing. |
I agree. And I'm the pp above who said we went on the weeklong Carribean cruise in Jan. it was cold near Florida but ok further south. Going on our third cruise next year. It's still the best vacation we've ever taken with the kids. They love the kids club and talk about our past cruises all the time. I just would recommend the cooler months for cruising. |
| Would NOT recommend cruising during the cooler months. |
I am the op and I didn't take others as Disney haters. We are Disney lovers but I am concerned about spending close to 10k if the weather is cold. How was your weather? You make a good point about the holiday decorations. How do people book? Can you get discounts for booking a certain way? |
