| I love Asian flavored but am looking to add variety into my usual rotation. What non-Asian flavored would work well for a sauce to serve with tofu? Would a lemon caper sauce work? |

You can put tofu in lasagna in place of meat.
If you want to do different sauces, I suggest grilling small slabs of it and serving it with the sauce. |
| Are you considering Indian among Asian? If not, check out vegan richa.....she has great recipes for tofu. Palak Tofu is very good. Also, buffalo tofu. Also, Twin Oaks tofu is the best tofu I've ever had. It's creamy and super firm. |
| I dated a vegan once who did amazing things with tofu. One was to bake it in thin strips with BBQ sauce to make mock ribs so much like the real thing. Don't know exact procedure. Delicious. |
| On the Whole Foods buffet by me they usually have cubes of roasted tofu tossed in a balsamic sauce/reduction. You could probably also make a dressing. |

Yes, lemon caper would be good - I made a version of Ina's lemon chicken using tofu instead.
BBQ sauce and serve on a south west type salad with peppers and corn and avocado etc. Before using a sauce, I drain it with a weight on top, cube, dry with a towel, toss with corn starch, and pan fry. Then I add the sauce to the pan after it browns. |
| You can make great chili using tofu instead of meat. Sautee the tofu pieces in with the spices, onions, and green peppers, and the tofu will absorb the spice flavors. |

Do a Google search for "Tofu Parmesan". It's delicious!
I do an easy version where I slice the block of tofu. Bake it. Cover it with spaghetti sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. The kids devour it. |

BBQ
Peanut sauce a sort of puttanesca - tomatoes, capers, olives - would be good Lemon and garlic (scampi) |
| OP here. Thanks for the suggestions! |
You bake the sliced tofu by itself and then add the sauce and cheese? |
| Sautee tofu in oil or butter with garlic and cubed veggies.Squeeze in ketchup and a dash of Sriracha sauce. if you don't use much sriracha, it doesn't get a heavily Asian flavor, just adds a spicy kick. Throw in some salt and it's perfect. |
| carbonera would be good. |

*Jerk seasoning is great with tofu
*Mark Bittman has a recipe for chicken with sauce du chien, and that sauce tastes good on everything. 1 tablespoon peeled and slivered or minced garlic 6 scallions, trimmed and minced 1 Scotch bonnet or jalapeno pepper, stemmed, seeded and minced, or chili paste or crushed red pepper flakes to taste (start with 1/2 teaspoon) Salt and fresh black pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice, or to taste 1 tablespoon peanut or canola oil 8 chicken thighs, about 2 pounds Juice of 1 lime In a small bowl, combine the garlic, scallions, chili, salt, allspice and oil. Add 1/2 cup boiling water; stir and set aside. Grill/cook your tofu, put the sauce on it. |
