Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Or, we don't want our neighborhood to be moved out of current school just because we happen to be a domino. People are suggesting that our neighborhood be move much further away, just to make room to move others in because of a domino effect. |
Is it a politically. minded group? |
How disgusting that these people are only sharing information with a small handful of members of the county who live in one specific area and not everyone. Also it's clearly not a Facebook group when they have their own domain. |
| Why is this one group of parents that live in a wealthy part of the county being given more information than everyone else? WTF???? |
Complimenting the quality of the theater program and theater students at Herndon HS is a sexist pejorative? I don't think you comprehend the definition of "mansplaining" either. |
Your definition still doesn't fit what you are saying... |
Maybe you don’t understand. Fairfacts matters is soliciting feedback to provide to Fairfax County, since they have spots on BRAC now. They are opening the dialogue to everyone across the county, not just one particular pyramid. Oh, and it seems that anyone can join- it’s a county-wide organization. I’m guessing you understand and that you are just desperately trying to make them the bad guy, but just in case you didn’t understand, I figured i would directly address your concerns. |
Oh how richly ironic. |
They aren't given more information from FCPS. They are putting in the time to read the FCPS emails and website, watch the FCPS school board meeting and work session videos, reading board docs, reading the BRAC minutes, attending school board meetings and work sessions, and paying for FOIA requests when something looks fishy, then posting the information publicly on the FairFacts FB page to share the information far and wide so residents across the county can get informed and do their own research. Our neighborhood fb page on the other side of the county is doing the same thing. You can do it too. Other than the FOIA requests, all of this is free. It just takes a LOT of time and a strong ability to keyword search and do internet research. Nothing is stopping you from doing your own research. If you are too busy to research on your own, nothing is stopping you from joining FairFacts and using their public info to start your own research. They are doing FCPS parents a tremendous, FREE service, whether or not you are zoned for Langley. |
Anyone can join their Facebook group completely free of charge. It's a very large group representing many pyramids. If you are against rezoning, I highly recommend you join for the free information, collaboration and engagement. And if anything, it's pretty much the only way public community members can provide any suggestions to BRAC. FairFACTs Matters is not the bad guys here... |
Lol that's not how the internet works. |
I have no problem with people organizing to get what they want, but sometimes you will be disappointed with the results. Maybe in this case your home will get re-districted, maybe it won’t. I just cannot with the trashing of schools like Edison, Falls Church and Herndon on this thread. I feel like the teachers and admin are doing the best they can with the student bodies they were dealt. There are many stories of successful students coming out of those schools, despite being ESOL and poor. |
The funny thing is that it’s usually posters in these very pyramids that are trying to foment a race/class war among neighbors who tend to disparage those schools in an attempt to put words in other posters’ mouths. Most everyone else just want stability. |
Nah, the Langley folks regularly trash Herndon on the FairFACTS FB page and elsewhere. And the admins of that page leave it up so they must agree. |
So, would you choose stability over some redisdricting even if your school was at 120% capacity? It is normal, and expected, for public schools to go through re-districting every so often. Some families will stay put, and others might have to make the best of a new situation. It’s life. |
