Advice on developing a strength training routine

Anonymous
I exercise regularly now at Jazzercise, which I love, but would like to take my fitness up a notch or two. I can see the benefits of the exercise that I'm doing along with really watching what I eat - staying away from sugar and processed foods. I feel great. What I would really love to do is start strength training at the gym that focuses on getting stronger and developing muscles.

I'm about to go on vacation and for much of the time there will be fitness centers I can use. I have worked out with weights in a gym before, but not regularly. Does anyone have advice on how I might go about designing a workout strategy before I go that focuses on strength training? Any books I should read/videos to watch?

I swear by New Rules of Lifting for Women. Get it on amazon or at your library. Best program for building strength. It's a six month program that will change your body. I'm 47 and have beautiful shoulders for the first time because of the lifting and exercises. I can do "real" push-ups and lots of them.

YES! That book is great!

However without a personal trainer, it is very difficult to get proper form from a book, which is critical.
Really nobody should be doing deadlifts without someone correcting form
