I just moved here from another state. I found this site because I have two toddlers..age 3 and age 2. Some of these postings are helpful but others - OMG - so nasty and mean spirited.

Just awful. People yelling at people because they think they are "entitled". Racist comments. Just general nastiness.

It's kind of sad, isn't it? I've lived here a long time, after living many other places, and feel it's the undercurrent here in regular life. People do fake a more civilized exterior, but underneath they're grim, judgmental, entitled, and hateful.

I haven't found this to be the case at all. I moved here from a small town, 14 years ago, and now consider it home primarily because of the wonderful people I have met.

You must be in the far out suburbs. Close in suburbs are full of obnoxious, selfish, aggressive, me me me types. Think Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Arlington, etc.

+1000. I wish I could meet more people like you. I've never lived in an area that is so stressful or where people are so hateful, competitive and just plain mean. My colleague from right outside NYC says the same thing.
