I live in Bethesda and lived in Woodley Park and Georgetown before that. I have wonderful friends and wonderful neighbors. The parents at my kids school have been friendly as well. Of course there are obnoxious people here but I know some pretty obnoxious, materialistic people who live in NYC, LA etc... There are plenty of friendly people. When I hear this I wonder who on Earth are you surrounding yourself with? |
Welcome to DCUM!

I recently saw a survey that ranked Bethesda as one of the snobbiest areas of the country? I'll try to find it. I believe it too. |
Haha That's great. |
Yeah, that's been all over the place. Do you know what it was based on? It was based on the level of education, home prices, private schools etc... It wasn't an actual survey of the people. |
Living with so many highly educated people creates a nasty, stressful and competitive atmosphere. Everyone wants the same things. |
Stick around and it will only get worse... trust me. |
Yes, because there are no people in other states anywhere who are ever nasty and mean spirited. |
I grew up in a rural area. Nicest folks ever... Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Dentists and other professionals were celebrities. Not a dime a dozen like they are here. Too many big mouths. |
Welcome, OP. Your particular brand of concern trolling will elicit plenty of responses here. Well done. |
Dreaming of moving to a place like Columbus, OH or Minneapolis, MN where people say "HI' on the streets and nobody is running you over in the grocery stores. It exists there, not here. |
This is the most important advice you will ever read here. I was you, OP, about 6 years ago. Now I participate and know one of the more notorious characters here (not Chipolte Lady). Get out now! You will be sucked in and will never be able to break the habit! |
The only nasty people I meet here are on DCUM. IRL not so much. |
It's the self-important transplants who come from Bumblefuck, USA and are so happy they've "made it", they become hateful SOBs. Natives are friendly folks. |
