Nasty

They/you/WE are also full of wonderful information. And I get more than a laugh a day at some of the amazing wit that only intelligent people can produce. Even if some of it is snarky, and could be hurtful were it not anonymous, I appreciate the brains here.

DCUM is full of:
Intelligence
Ignorance
Kindness
Brutality
Honesty (that would won't find without anonymity)
Trolling
Humor
Stick in the muds

If you skip over the parts you don't like you'll find some good stuff.

The people I meet who grew up here have been, by and large, the nicest, most down to earth folks. My husband and I remark on this over and over and over again. The transplants are the problems.

+1000. I wish I could meet more people like you. I've never lived in an area that is so stressful or where people are so hateful, competitive and just plain mean. My colleague from right outside NYC says the same thing.

+ 10,000. I try to come on here to be helpful, give advice, and often learn new things. But the nastiness is repellant. I almost never go to the political threads because there's just no point. Everyone is yelling at one another.

Before you invest in snowshoes, let me tell you that MN is actually very cliquey.

I enjoy learning new things here as well - particularly things that make my life easier. Too much nastiness leaves me feeling depressed though.

Just awful. People yelling at people because they think they are "entitled". Racist comments. Just general nastiness.

Unbelievable.

We don't sell fairy dust in the DC metro area.

sorry

Hey OP, there are plenty of other forums. Betcha can find your way out of this one and to one of your liking. It's not that difficult.

I believe you mean "fora." Doesn't anyone know their Latin declensions anymore?

(Please note I'm being completely tongue in cheek!!)

Proving the point.

Funny thing is that there are tons of posters on here that don't even live in DC. So the snark isn't necessarily local.

What exactly IS "entitled" anyway? I saw posters screaming at someone the other day and labeling him/her "entitled" Someone who works hard, goes to college, works their way up the ladder and can afford to live in a close-in suburb? This means they are "entitled" and "Selfish".
