| I just looked up the price fix dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. Seriously $160-190/per person? Is it that good? |
| It's a lovely restaurant and a good experience, but it's definitely not worth $175/per person (especially if you have to ask the question). |
| It is really extraordinarily good, but only worth it if you know how to work it. I went with the proprietor of one of the local b&bs as part of a cycling getaway weekend. He asked them to do things for us I would I have never thought would be ok. I.e., Serve our dinner in the dining room but dessert on the patio, if you can't decide between two desserts, ask them to make you a special one that combines the two, etc. Asking for those special things instead of just ordering off the basic menu made it feel much more special and worth the expense. |
| It wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. DH and I have had plenty of good meals but our experience there was out of this world. If you can swing it, you must do it once! |
| Overrated. The Inn is so 1980's, |
|
Have done it a couple of times. We enjoyed it a lot, but it's hard to say it's worth the $$$$$. It's nice to stay there and have the total experience, but then you're talking $$$$$ plus $$$$$.
I was annoyed at the up charge for a full breakfast, on top of $600 for the room. It was a while ago; maybe it's different now. |
Nailed it. |
It isn't. That's why I refuse to stay there. There are a few wonderful B&Bs in town. |
We stayed at a B&B but I wouldn't call it wonderful. I got the feeling that some people are cashing in on the Inn, because that's even more ridiculously priced. It's a good restaurant but I agree it's over-rated and precious. Lots of other places I'd rather spend the money. |
| We ate there for our honeymoon in Shenandoah. In the dotcom boom I was dating someone with money to burn and I ate out quite a bit, and while the food at the inn was on par with other meals I've had, the portions for the prix fixe were insanely large. The menu as a whole was poorly thought out. I was surprised. |
Really? I put this on my list of "must eat" restaurants. I'd hate to spend THAT much money and be disappointed. |
It's a very lovely experience you must do once. We did it for my husband's 40th and didn't regret it. Not like we had to sell a kidney to afford it, though
|
| Incredible dinner and stay! We weren't disappointed. It's a must-do at least once. The breakfast was delicious too. |
It's still very good. Some people like to complain about everything because they think it makes them look oh-so-cool. Don't listen to the loser PP.
|
Loved it. But it was twice as much as you believe. |
