Inn at Little Washington

Agree. A must do once.

I have gone twice. One about 10 years ago courtesy of the in-laws (dined with them) and once a couple of years ago for my birthday. I really enjoy the experience and the food. Yes, it is very expensive. Yes, for some - including me - it is worth it. You have to be into this kind of thing though. It is not that each bite is that much more awesome than any other food. Heck, I love the hole in the wall Chinese place for much less. If you like getting dressed up and having a fine dining experience you should try it just once.

I've been to the Inn at Little Washington several times and loved it each time. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I've also been to French Laundry in CA, which many people say is one of the top restaurants in the country (and is a lot more than $200/pp). I would never do that again although it was great to try it once.

My mom, the ultimate snob, was just there for the fifth of sixth time, and is obsessed w everyone doing it once. A pp was right--if you can sort of own it (dessert on the patio or whatever) it's vv special and worth a big birthday or anniversary or whatever

It is seriously good.

Totally agree. Entire experience was awesome.
We've payed equal or more for lesser dining experiences at nice places this summer in Bermuda, SF, wine country, etc.

And, if you can swing it, stay overnight.

Breakfast just as enjoyable an experience.

Funny. Without reading this, I just posted below about the Inn and recent wine country dining.

I’ve done it once, and while it was a lovely experience and I’m glad we did it, I wouldn’t go out of my way to do it again. I think it depends on your personal preferences a bit. I love good food but found it a bit obsequious. Much prefer Komi, Rasika or Obelisk, which are delicious but less fussy.

Funny, I just came across the menu from our meal there. And while they personalized it for our occasion, nowhere does it say “Inn at Little Washington.” You’d think with their attention to detail, they might have thought to make that part of the memento!

Go during the week so you can relax and enjoy at a lower price.

What restaurant do you prefer for a special occasion?

I loved Rasika, but there's really no comparison between it and the Inn. C'mon.

Ha! I had the exact same thought.

I've been there twice and it's by far the best food I've eaten. This includes restaurants in NYC and Europe. I highly recommend you eat there. As for staying at the B&B, I would never spend that much when I live about an hour away. Just go there for the meal and come home.

It's not that easy if you and your husband drink a bottle of wine at the meal. I can't imagine having that kind of meal and not having wine, either.

There are a couple great b&bs in town that are walkable to the inn and much cheaper. It's a great overnight trip, or get a car service. We saw a few limos parked outside waiting. And yes, you must do the wine pairings with the tasting menu!
