Trying to understand Nicola Peltz Beckham

i dont understand why anyone is applauding him - it's WILD to me.

Exactly and I just have to add- they are nothing like the Kardashians! The Beckham brand was built on top of both of their successful first careers (sports and music). They aren't "famous for being famous." They actually had some credibility.

People respect people who are self made. They have less tolerance for the spoiled kids acting up.

Meh. David Beckham is a great soccer player. Victoria Beckham was in a band that had its 15 minutes of fame and is now famous for being married to David and being really skinny.

You are underplaying their accomplishments quite a bit. They are very self-made. They parlayed their initial successes (which took work, especially David, when younger) into more sustainable long-term businesses. He is the president and an owner of Miami FC among other things. She has her fashion label and a makeup line among other things. They may not be Pelz-level but their kids grew up in luxury.

+1. The Spice Girls weren't a one-hit wonder. They were a household name in the 90s. It's laughable to say she had 15 minutes of fame. Then Victoria pivoted to another career before you could do that simply by posting on Instagram.

Brooklyn's "takedown" of his parents is shameful. He's not lifting the curtain on anything top-secret. He's having a temper tantrum.

That’s your opinion. I think a MIL not correcting the behavior of a guest rudely calling her the most beautiful person in the room on her son’s wedding day is shameful. I think trying to restrict an adult child’s use of their own name is shameful.

Maybe Brooklyn and Nicola are awful people. Don’t know them and don’t care to know them. But I do think that not accepting your adult son’s wife after they’ve been married for years is not mature adult behavior by Posh and Becks.

Great- what do you propose Victoria should have done in the moment in front of 500 guests to the person gifting the bride and groom a music set? Marc Anthony said what he said out of his affection for Victoria, not to diss the bride. Everyone can see Nicola is beautiful. This is something you laugh about and move on from. Not use as an example to go scorched earth over 4 years later.

Something's not right. He and his wife said they did the vow renewal bc they were so traumatized by their wedding. The fact that her parents are encouraging all of this (which is pretty obvious is appalling). Nelson Peltz doesn't have a good reputation, and there's a reason for that. A quick google should tell any sane person all the info they need to know to take a side in this feud (in the event the Beckhams track record wasn't enough evidence that they aren't terrible parents).

I mean, who really needs to take a side? They're all absurdly rich. Also quite eccentric. That tends to happen when you're rich and no one ever corrects you / tells it to you straight. It's just the circus of the day. I can empathize with both sides. But I don't really bother because it's all performative and they'll all be just fine. It's a nice distraction while WWIII is brewing.

I can only imagine what it’s like living with someone that spoiled and self-centered. He’s not the brightest bulb, must be very easy to manipulate.

She also looks frail these days, like she’s developed an ED. I’m sure he feels obligated to “protect” her as she cries daily about how horribly she’s been treated. What a mess.

He's not bright and she's 5 years older than him. They got together and after the wedding he became estranged from his family. It honestly does sound like the Harry and Meagan dynamic!

Can someone more media savvy than me answer a question: If Brooklyn wants to break away from his family, wouldn't posting something like that 6 page instagram screed be the worst way to go about it? Or does that appeal to the young people/his peers? It's hard to believe someone at his wife's level wouldn't have a PR firm for stuff like this? Brooklyn himself probably always used his parents advisors so may not have access to those contacts for something like this. Why did he do this?

He did this to prove his loyalty to his wife. She felt she was taking the fall for the situation in terms of PR, wanted and needed his public defense. Doesn't make her look any better though, and he just looks dumb, impulsive, and entirely under her control given how petty and Nicola-centered the "issues" are.
