There is about 2 pages here of saving face for Bl by her team. First it was the accusations that they stood by. Then JB hit back with receipts. Now it’s, both sides were wrong and this shouldn’t be so public anymore (after that video yesterday). Let’s all be adults and take this privately now……….

JB has the right to defend himself. She and RR ruined his reputation. This was not SH.

Poor JB!

I have no interest in asserting "poor Blake" or anything here because it's possible she is lying or exaggerating and this is all about business or face saving for her.

But I think it's bizarre to claim confidently there was no harassment when you could not possibly know that and then position Baldoni as the victim. What if you're wrong?

If his podcast host who knows him pretty well, and the actors and crew he's worked on other movies with, have all decided to take a wait and see approach, it's weird that someone who never met any of these people and wasn't present when Amy if this happened would so confident.

Sure. I guess we will just disagree. Nothing that has been presented thus far by BL appears SH as alleged. She had the right to bring receipts also. She hasn’t, and now there is all of this hush-hush talk, let’s go behind closed doors and talk about this.

Sad.

Lively isn't saying "let's go behind closed doors." Her lawyers are saying they should have a normal discovery process and that evidence should be shown in court instead of leaked selectively to the media. They aren't suggesting it never comes out at all.

That’s not how the court system works

How does it work then?

There’s no right to privacy once YOU start a lawsuit.

Nah. She went to the NYT. He’s going to wind up humiliating Lively and Reynolds, is my guess — and the twist is this would never have crossed Baldoni’s mind but for their attacks. Oh well!

This. No one really knew him before, sure some did from the tv show and his podcast, but he is not well known. Blake and Ryan will be humiliated and the hit to their egos will be devastating for them.

I'm curious how people think they are going to be humiliated or destroyed or whatever.

Ryan, in particular, is going to be totally unscathed. At worst, he will be seen as sticking up for his wife. I've seen this before, actually, with an overzealous husband going after someone he thought wronged his wife -- people eat it up. It will play right into Ryan's existing public persona. I think he's in zero danger.

With Lively I'll be curious how this whole thing impacts the release of A Simple Favor 2. It doesn't have a release date yet and they claim that fact is unrelated to what's going on with Lively in the press but I doubt they are ignoring. But I think if we ultimately see Lively palling around with Anna Kendrick at the premiere of that movie, she'll probably escape pretty unimpacted. Who knows, maybe interest in this thing with Baldoni will boost interest in that movie -- It Ends With Us probably benefited from the controversy a bit. Even if Lively winds up being someone people "love to hate," it could work out for her.

I think Baldoni has way more to lose than anyone else involved here. Like you said, he was a no one before this. If I had to bet, he'll wind up defined by this controversy.

Regardless of the truth, I think he probably should have played along and gotten through it. Then he'd just be that guy who was in that one movie with Blake Lively and hey, didn't he direct it too? That would be a much better situation for him.

Play along? Are you kidding me? This is his livelihood and reputation at stake. You can’t be serious!

She is demanding a hearing immediately to stop the lawyer from talking to the media. She is freaking out, but this isn’t the right strategy because silencing the lawyer will imply to the public she has something to hide. She says the video corroborates her version of the events and then next day demands a hearing because of the lawyers “leaks”? Hilarious.

What does Liz Plank know that the rest of us don't?

That she doesn’t want to be anywhere near this drama.

People who don't get this are drama stirring weirdos. She's clearly keeping above the fray.

Interesting that she cares now about not leaking after initially leaking her legal complaint to the NYT.. Do as I say, not as I do.

I agree that was questionable too. But now both complaints with their competing narratives are out there, the correct thing from a legal standpoint would be to disclose evidence to each other via discovery and wait for a trial to make their case (if it gets that far).

The lawyer constantly leaking stuff to the press is going to piss off the judge. It's not just this footage, this dude is clearly playing games. Like sending a letter to the Marvel people about "Nicepool" alleging the character is "bullying" Baldoni. That's a totally meritless allegation (notice he didn't sue them, just sent a letter to studio heads and then, of course, leaked it to the press). It's going to get shut down.

nicepool was credited to a fictional person (gordon reynolds) whom blake thanked in the credits for it ends with us, and nicepool gets killed in front of a flower shop

And? Who cares if he was based on Baldoni? It's not illegal to base a character in someone you don't like. And don't tell me "it's a threat." Please. The character was a joke and people get killed constantly in the Deadpool movies.

There is no cause of action for Baldoni regarding Nicepool, it's just a way to try and drag Reynolds into the whole thing further. Just like he's trying to drag Taylor Swift in even though what even is the allegation there? Swift said nice things about her friend Lively's scene to Baldoni? Oh no, call the cops!

No one said there is a cause of action. It's why they haven't sued Marvel. It's a document preservation request.

Right, a document preservation request... in case he sues. Because he thinks Nicepool is based on him. Which it probably is! And is also not illegal. According to his letter to Marvel/Disney, he thinks the character might have been created to intimidate or "bully" him.

This is nuts.

To review, here are things Baldoni claims were done to "bully" him:

- Taylor Swift telling him she really liked a scene her friend wrote
- Ryan Reynolds being present in a meeting where Lively detailed inappropriate things Baldoni had been doing on set and asked him to stop
- The existence of a [genuinely funny] character in a Deadpool movie that was likely based on Baldoni's persona as a "nice guy male feminist."

None of that is bullying or "intimidation" or whatever else he wants to call it.

He sounds sooooooo ridiculous with this stuff. Coupled with suing the New York Times for reporting on this whole thing? I'm honestly embarrassed for him. I don't think he'll ever work in Hollywood again.

She made a bunch of petty claims and then is claiming he retaliated. I think a lot of what his team is doing is trying to show her hypocrisy. It’s hard for BL’s team to sit up on their high horses and claim she’s a helpless victim when they’re down in the dirt slinging mud of their own.

Any chance a judge approves the gag order? Can anyone here with legal insight provide some clarity?

No? I doubt she would have had 4 kids if she wanted that career and life.

I just rewatched the dang video again trying to be as neutral as possible. He literally couldn’t say “it smells good” more nonchalantly. It almost even has a question mark after it, like “it smells good?” And he says it fast, almost clipped. To say he was dragging his lips on her and saying “it smells so good” in a salacious way is just a lie. I honestly just can’t see anything he did wrong. There were some almost kisses but he even told her they were coming. Also, he’s playing a creepy abuser!

Before anyone says it to me: Time for me to get a life!

Eh, hard to tell. Blake's been pushed by the machine from a young age and basically no one was biting, because her talent is minimal. She's ended up in basically the best place possible for someone who is a C List actor but now a super rich billionaire. Hollywood people have insane egos though, and money compounds that. I do think she wanted that (acclaim and recognition), at least at some point. Her pics on the Town indicated as such. She's leaning into the mom thing which I think is cute but she's fundamentally kind of a shit actress and always has been. Margot and Jennifer can bring it in a way Blake has never been capable so, in my mind, maybe they were peers at one poit but no longer are. Nothing to do with the kids FFS.

The are asking for both a protective order (that's what people are referring to as the "gag order") and a hearing to discuss appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward. I can't find a copy of their motion online though so I'm not sure exactly what the are asking the protective order to cover.

They'll get the hearing, that's an easy one and could be rolled into other preliminary hearings the judge might schedule as well. I would expect the judge at the hearing to lecture attorneys on both sides regarding communications to the press, not just Baldoni's lawyers.

I do think there are some things that Baldoni's lawyer has either released or is proposing releasing that the court would consider issuing a PO against. For instance I think it's highly likely the judge could issue a PO preventing Baldoni from releasing footage from the birth scene, where even if you go by Baldoni's complaint, the most Lively was wearing was a pair of underwear briefs on the bottom, and her legs were up in stirrups. That would be an easy one. I am less sure about how the judge would treat other requests for nondisclosure, of stuff like texts/emails between the parties. A lot of it is already in the complaints, I don't know how much else there even is. The judge will have to weight the potentially prejudicial or damaging impact of any potential disclosure against Baldoni's right to defend himself in the court of public opinion. And I don't know if Lively is asking for a blanket PO (unlikely to get) or something more targeted, which is more likely to be successful.
