They have time to plan a golf tournament to
make even more money but no time to hire coaches.

It’s simple. For me it’s the close drive, nice fields, chance for my kid to make friends and play/practice soccer 3-4 times a week. Soccer is fun and I can afford it. Anything else you want to know?

Funny, I don't remember posting this but that's exactly it for us too. The price includes tournament fees and winter practices/futsal. Also, since it is the local club for where I live I've known some parents for years (multiple kids in soccer). I've always had families I trust who live near me that my kids can carpool with. That really cuts down on the time commitment for us as parents, which to be honest is the hardest part of travel soccer.

I think for most people its mediocre and overpriced but convenient until they run into a bad coach situation.

Yup…convenience over development. Most folks should ask themselves, over 3-4 years of committing there resources, is your team moving up in the divisions or are they simply changing the name of the team colors? Same kids and players? Just saying?

Exactly this. Even a low level division 10 or whatever team should move up every year with good coaching.

Please post info if you hear anything about coaches at the tryouts tonite

The golf thing is definitely snobbish.

Valor is the only soccer club that has golf events?

Valor is the only soccer club still without full coaching slate?

+1

Is Valor the only club with parents as coaches?

"Without full"?!
80% of their teams are Coachless.

Oh no, pipe down or that wacky South Lakes mom will come back with more rants and photos of her gala food.

I can't imagine our club trying to make money by selling tickets to something they hilariously call a "Gala". Second hand cringing so hard right now.

Last year they had 55 teams.
If this year its the same number of teams they have listed coaches for around 20 teams (all first teams).
So 80% is an exageration. They only forgot to hire 35 coaches.
No biggie.

This is still an exaggeration. For most age groups they have at least the 2nd coach. Why they aren't advertising is mind boggling. The only reason I can think of is they are coaches no one wants to return to so they think they are better off not advertising.

I think this reason is more widespread.

Not trying to defend Valor. But if it is true that many other clubs are having the same issue, it could be because a number of factors. Like too many clubs with too many teams. Coaches wages not enough to make ends meet (remember most of these coaches have other careers and maybe have to find other moonlighting options that pay better). More kids playing soccer now (don’t know if that is true just spitballing).

If they have hired second team coaches they are not publicly listing them. And at the first tryout only the A team coach was introduced. A parent asked about the second and third coaches and they blew him off with some yada yada.
