A MIL crazier than yours.

I thought that I would share this, because, well, it's awesome in a completely terrible way.

My cousin planned for a year for a "perfect" wedding (yes, she was a bridezilla). She bought her mother a gorgeous gown from London. She really wanted her mother to look beautiful too, which was kind of sweet. Everything was going to be perfect.

But MIL had other plans.

She demanded to know what the mother of the bride would wear. She nagged and nagged and nagged until she got to see a picture. A normal person would assume that she did this so that by some freak accident she did not buy a similar dress to the mother of the bride.

But MIL is not normal. She went out, bought the closest fabric she could, and had a nearly identical gown to the mother of the bride's dress CUSTOM MADE. On the wedding day, there they were, dressed like twins, or possibly really really old bedazzled bridesmaids. It was positively bizarre. I don't think any woman who went to this wedding will remember anything about it other than this.

1. Don't you like your MIL better now?

2. Why in the world would someone do this? Why? We have tried to figure it out, and we can't. Does anyone have any ideas?

Get over what? I thought it was funny!

It's very one sided, someone with a bone to pick.

The wedding's over. Who cares.

That is hilarious!! So bizarre! Good luck to the bride. She got a glimpse of what she's in for!!

Ok, I am OP. What bone am I picking here? It is not even my MIL! And how one-sided can I be... they were wearing the SAME DRESS! The MIL had hers made that way on purpose, AFTER she saw the other dress!

Geez, I thought people would be more amused by this.

Unfortunately MIL is worse. I don't care what she wears as long as she leaves me alone. She said I look frumpy on my wedding day

But I have to agree, the story is funny, esp the bridesmaid part.

I read a similar story (or joke) a number of years back.

In that story the MIL wore the dress one day before the wedding, for the rehearsal dinner.

I thought that was hilarious!

So, she saw one picture and was able to have someone custom make an exact replica from her description?

Yes! She had her son email her a picture. I know that it sounds insane, because it IS insane.

This is basically the style of the dress, lace on top, with an A-line skirt:

I love crazy MiL stories. I remember an sold thread where the two posts that stood out to me were:

1) MIL called 911 to report child abuse because her DIL was trying to choke thE baby with a pacifier

2) after an argument, the MIl pitched a tent outside and slept there for the rest of the viisit.
