A MIL crazier than yours.

Get a life PP. And remember, someday your kids may get married.

Ok, I am OP. What bone am I picking here? It is not even my MIL! And how one-sided can I be... they were wearing the SAME DRESS! The MIL had hers made that way on purpose, AFTER she saw the other dress!

Geez, I thought people would be more amused by this.

We are amused! There's just a really sour MIL who always posts nasty comments on the MIL venting threads. She posts often and early. Ignore here; it's a fun, wacky story!

No, YOU should get a life, PP. You're obviously a difficult MIL because you post on every MIL thread attacking the poster and making gloomy predictions about her future.

They were t my stories. I get along great with my MIL. I can still appreciate crazy stories about other people.

That is funny but here is my MIL story - she tried to copy MY dress on my wedding day - so I as the bride and she as the MIL were the only teo people at my wedding dressed in floor length white dresses with full skirt and beading, etc. I can laugh about it now ...

I read the title and thought, oh maybe this will make me feel better about my wretch of a MIL. But my MIL did something similar. She asked my mother what she was wearing on my wedding day then wore the same. damn. thing. She is a truly horrible person who nobody can stand. But I have personally seen karma bite her in the ass so...

Hahaha, seriously!? Were your DH and FIL just shaking their heads?

Wow. What is going on in their heads?

OP, and PPs with copycat MILs, please ask them WHY they wanted to dress like the other mother or like the bride....

Please, I really want to know.

I don't need to ask my MIL why. I already know it's because she is a passive aggressive bitch. Literally nobody likes her except her husband who has Stockholm syndrome.

My MIL did this too! She didn't have it custom made, but bought a dress nearly identical to my mother's. She also copied the shoes I wore to our rehearsal dinner.

For so many reasons - such as the parallels between your MIL and my so-much-more-extreme mother in this story - I shouldn't laugh at this. But I did.

I find this kind of thing totally baffling. Even if you are a evil person, I just don't see how this racks up as a "win" for the MIL.

Should either/both of my kids get married, I would like a general idea of:
The level of formal-ness that is anticipated for the wedding party, just so my choice doesn't stick out.
Then, I'm going shopping for ME. For a dress that I think will be tasteful, and will favor my coloring, my body type, etc.
Just feels like to go wear the other mother's dress, regardless of style/color whatever is an act of self-sabotage.

For folks that find these stories amusing, I recommend

Holy shit. You win!

WTF?

Do you think these MILs think they are SUPPOSED to dress like the Mothers of the Brides? Is there some book somewhere that suggests it?
