Recently diagnosed with breast cancer off a routine mammogram. Who are considered the best doctors in the area? Thanks.

Try Cancer Institute at Washington Hospital Center.
Take care!

I liked the doctors at Sibley Hospital.

Sorry about your diagnosis, OP. I went to Thomas Zorc in the Chevy Chase Building (across from Saks). I like him a lot--very calm and thorough in his approach. I have two friends who went to him, too.

For my medical oncology, I go to Fred Smith on Wisconsin.

My surgeries were done at Sibley.

Best of luck to you.

I would NOT go to Fred Smith. (Even though you didn't ask about oncologists). He has too many patients and runs his office like a mill plus he can be very cold and aloof, not what you want in an oncologist.

Totally disagree with 7:23. He has a calm demeanor that appeals to many, many cancer patients. He's also highly regarded by surgeons in the metro area.

Dr. Gregory O. Dick-he is fantastic and practices out of Shady Grove Hospital.

Sorry about your diagnosis. The whole thing can be so overwhelming. I wish you the best.

I would recommend my breast surgeon but she moved to VA. However I can offer that I saw Fred Smith, but not for very long. He may be well regarded in the area (and he is) however I never felt like he was listening to me. There are many, many good oncologists in the area who do listen to their patients.

If you're looking for and/or want reconstruction I can recommend Dr. Susan Otero at WHC. She is amazing. Truly.

NP, Could you recommend your oncologist? I was about to schedule my first appointment with him, I currently see Dr. Favret and I don't click with her.

OP, I recommend Dr Christine Teal at GW.

Absolutely top notch.

I recently read an article about Fred Smith and his office supporting patients who used Penguin Cold Caps to prevent hair loss during chemo. I had never heard of him or that treatment prior to this article.

Second this, I also had a consultation with Dr. Toussimiss at GT, but ended up going with Dr. Bruce for proximity to work and home.

Colette Magnant at Sibley is an angel.

How are the surgeons out of Suburban Hospital's Group?
