US confirms hospital used by Hamas.

What, no WMD? No glass vial to shake?

Not a subscriber to NY times, but I can tell you that neither side is squeaky clean or spotless and the first casualty in war is the truth.
Right now it is the Palestinians who are doing the dying and suffering in very large numbers.
The end does not justify the means, not anymore

The bolded- it has ALWAYS been Palestinians being murdered and otherwise killed in very large numbers since the late 1940s, and 10/7/23 is the sole exception. When you frame the conflict as you do, it’s dishonest.

Yes, they have a lot of casualties because they start wars and can't finish them. They are not the victims.

“They”? Do you think all Palestinians are to blame? Such a lack of compassion.

My understanding from reading history is that Zionists were the original provocateurs. Palestinians responded. Violence escalated with each and every back and forth. Vastly more Palestinians have died (and kidnapped, ie held without charges) than Israeli over the years. The suffering that the escalation has now reached is terrible. And has just created a new generation of people who hate Israel.

I hope the US begins to link support to Israel to changes in how they treat Palestinians. I believe this will happen in the next 20-30 years.

It doesn’t matter what you want to think or what thoughts give you comfort. The truth is, the Palestinians start conflicts, the people they started conflicts with fight back, the Palestinians can't match the fighting, then cry victim. If you want to think, think about this, after all these years of fighting, why do the Palestinians have NOTHING they want? No accomplishments?

They do. You just can't see it. Israelis and Palestinians have an unspoken contract as so many do in the Middle East. Here are the terms:

Israelis: Palestinians, I will take your land.

Palestinians: you will, but you will never feel safe in it.

If Israel can not stand by itself after 75 years it will always be a dependent of the US. It’s time to end our support for Israel.

Israel is viewed as a key US ally in the Middle East. The Guardian had a long article that pointed out that the US keeps a lot of our weapon stockpile in Israel (we sort of use it like a military base).

Israel is not an ally if you consider an alliance to be mutually beneficial. They have never and will never deploy alongside US troops in combat. Those weapons caches are meant for use by the Israelis. On paper they are ours, but that's were we go when Israel needs their stockpiles replenished. We have the same stockpiles in Turkey and the Gulf States

I’m not so sure. I think there must be a reason for the US unwavering support of Israel. Maybe we just don’t know all the details?

(I would also add that I think the reasoning should be disclosed and we should explore if it really is legit or can be changed bc I am horrified by their ongoing actions)

I'm sorry, did anyone miss your dog whistle? Been reading antisemitic conspiracy theories lately and thought you might start writing your own?

Do tell us about those shaaaaadowy Jooooooos controlling the world behind the scenes. Only you have caught on and you will need all of us to see the light so you can save the universe.

This disgusting Hamas tactic effectively turned the injured patients and doctors into human shields.

But, what else would you expect from a designated terrorist organization like Hamas or IS ?

LOL no. At this stage IDF will declare anything in Gaza a command center, and sheep like you will nod.

Keep insulting our intelligence...

Only useful idiots continue to deny that Hamas embeds all kinds of military infrastructure among civilians.

This is a good thing. The U.S. taking steps to ensure its defense and protection, who could be against that?

The problem with that logic is that nobody who isn't already bought (U.S. political class), racist (white supremacists, primarily Evangelicals), pre-disposed to Israeli support regardless the matter at hand (Jews in the U.S.), or clueless and prone to believing absurd propaganda could possibly trust people like Bibi and his corrupt cronies. There's nothing inherently good that comes from trusting depraved scumbags who behave like Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, etc.

your whole point is that Israel and Israelis are bad to the core, so they are never to be trusted. Your argument depends on this premise. Those of us who know this premise is not true, are fine with the current arrangements.

No. Wrong. Many Israelis are not inherently bad people, just like many U.S. Jews are not inherently bad people, supporting the bad behavior of SOME Israelis.

Very few who are not already squarely in one of those groups identified above are otherwise fine with the current arrangements.

You may be right but if so it’s truly disheartening.

Here's a thoughtful article by Raz Segal from the magazine Jewish Currents that describes what Israel is doing in Gaza as a textbook case of genocide: https://jewishcurrents.org/a-textbook-case-of-genocide

South Africa got it right.

lol Israel will not let US troops on Israel territory unless they get huge concessions like in the gulf war. US aircraft are not allowed to use bases in Israel or fly over Israel territory. Would have been nice to have US planes flying out of Israel when the US was fighting ISIS and in Syria but our “ally” Israel was helping ISIS and making deals with the Russians.

Those weapons stored in Israel are from Israeli use only. We wanted to move those weapons to the Ukraine but Israel had a cow and stopped that.

Israel is not viewed as a “key” ally by anyone including the US. It is viewed as a liability and all its intelligence is suspect and not trusted. It is a very one way relationship with Israel giving nothing in return.

It’s war. Hamas shouldn’t have started it.
Also, Israel already has members of Hamas and Gazans acting as CIs and on the take. How do you think they got Hamas’ number two lackey?
Must suck for Hamas fighters as they realize the guy they’re sharing a tunnel with might very well be feeding the Mossad and Shin Bet intelligence.

I see we have in our midst a person who believes the rules of war do not exist. Okay.

CIs? lol. They must not pay them very well or they would have heard of the 10/7 plans before, not after.
