ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

I don’t think you realize you’re playing for McLean now.

Well playing for McLean until NM and CW take the players they want and move onto the next “partnership”.

too little too late--they already lost the pathway for BOTH boys and girls by giving up ECNL to a seperate entity with different leadership and decisionmaking...The MYS Board drove the boys program into the ground by turning a blind eye and allowing years of a de facto girls only TD to sit at the top, and that ultimately was the club's downfall...and ironically it took the girl's program down with it.

Teams have been decimated and they lost mulitple years of player talent to other clubs. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees...

Hope those moving to FVU (and yes, its a move because it is no longer MYS) do well and that FVU doesn't make the same mistakes ECNL has shown they don't discriminate by gender--both need to be on equal footing and successful. One sinks and it takes the other with it....

Problem is that it’s is the same problem. NM is a girls coach but DOC overall. Several of the girls coaches don’t have longstanding ecnl experience and same for the boys side. So hope all you want but this isn’t set up well even if they have solved the dilution issue by reducing the number of teams.

The hires from McLean are good publicity, in terms of the club itself- its dangerous. You bring in two people who are PRO coaches...they know absolutely nothing about youth soccer or the landscape in this area. When's the last time these guys have coached anyone under the age of 18?

All this discussion of which team is best on the girls side is a luxury. The boys parents have been relatively quiet but it’s been the worst experience we have had coming from the McLean side. Our coaches left mid season as everyone knows. FVU tryouts were disorganized to say the least. And for those kids who didn’t make FVU the RL coaches are still unknown. I know how competitive sports goes but this PROCESS has been the pits. Really unhappy with MYS.

Wondering is VYS any better? At this point I’d gladly drive over.

A number of families have moved to Arlington. I have been debating it. Not sure what the drive to Long Bridge looks like during rush hour from McLean.

We are considering this as well. The drive is a reverse commute so not that bad, but still looks like a 30-40 min drive during rush hour.

Would love to hear from any one who has done this and their experience.

There are other considerations about Long Bridge than just the commute. For one, the planes coming into Reagan are constantly flying over the field and fly so close to the field that the field is covered in fuel exhaust. I would not want my kid sucking into toxic fumes three times a week and once or twice on weekends. It’s also built on a brownfield. I actually don’t know how Arlington parents put up with it.

Yep sometimes the planes even land on the field to make practice interesting.

Well at least the park was build by Boeing LOL. I would be surprised if the planes land on their backyard. Haha

You are trying to say CW owns FVU? McLean no longer calls the shots now. CW has probably 2 years left at best and he is out to Florida for a nice retirement. I would just take it year by year in this crazy youth soccer environment.

There is no winning with the trolls on this thread. First it’s “CW is too old” and then when they bring in pro you’re like “he’s too expensive and what does he know about youth soccer?” Sounds like a lot of disgruntled parents whose kids got cut from FVU or didn’t make the top team from MYS or coaches who wish they had the clout of CW or ND.

Seems their real goal is to strengthen the Richmond team and weaken the ability of nova teams to compete. Certainly Richmond is not better at developing talent than Nova clubs.

What weaker clubs were added to the league?

When is Mclean posting coaching slate for ECNL RL teams?

LOL. Of course they do. MYS has ECNL now just as much as PWSI does. Or Loudoun. Or SYC did. Or VSA does. Or Kickers do. Or MYS did last year.

If your point is they don’t call all the shots anymore, sure. That was never a sustainable model given their limited talent base. Now they get to share board seats and decisions equally with BRYC and Vienna. In return, they get to be the ECNL team for all of Fairfax County. That’s a lot of talent; I’d say it’s a great deal for McLean. It may take a year to stabilize and work through the change, but just from a feeder perspective, I expect all of their teams to get better. That’s probably rattling a lot of cages in Loudoun, PW, Arlington, and Bethesda.

Stop being intentionally obtuse. They (theoretically) created a new club that is stronger than either of the two clubs they effectively eliminated.

Perfect DCUM troll answer. No notes.

History indicates about 48 hours before tryouts start.

I seriously doubt anyone from Loudoun, PW, Arlington, and Bethesda is even moderately rattled by what is happening with MYS, VYS, and BRYC, or FVU. Might be laughing at the 262 pages of comments about it, which is obviously an interesting read since here I am posting, lol, but pretty sure the only people who care about this are us who are directly impacted by the partnership.

My guess is a disgruntled coach. Would not be surprised to learn JW has been posting on here. Dude was a mess for the club.

As former VYS and now at one of the clubs you mentioned, I can assure you that you're right - nobody cares. Some of us graduated from the romper room.
