ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

Right. And most of those kids are rec (which the directors have essentially no involvement in), and they now have no direct responsibility for top teams above U12, only U9-U12 plus ECNL-RL and lower travel teams. What will these "directors" be doing?

Our sons spent a total of 13 years on the top teams at MYS/Union and we never saw Clyde at a single match, or met him.

I wonder if it really is truly beneficial (if at all) for directors to be showing up to team practices at the grassroots level. IMO a good director knows how to oversee the coaches and makes sure communication and high level decisions are communicated properly and timely. I was at a club where the director would drop in from time to time and then get too involved in team decisions overriding the coach and it was a mess. He would make promises directly to the team but never follow through. He was a collegiate coach and thought showing up a few times would make us feel better bc of his titles, but he was not actually present enough to really know teams he was making decisions for...

With that said, not sure particularly about MYS and what these changes mean...

All this discussion of which team is best on the girls side is a luxury. The boys parents have been relatively quiet but it’s been the worst experience we have had coming from the McLean side. Our coaches left mid season as everyone knows. FVU tryouts were disorganized to say the least. And for those kids who didn’t make FVU the RL coaches are still unknown. I know how competitive sports goes but this PROCESS has been the pits. Really unhappy with MYS.

Wondering is VYS any better? At this point I’d gladly drive over.

A number of families have moved to Arlington. I have been debating it. Not sure what the drive to Long Bridge looks like during rush hour from McLean.

We are considering this as well. The drive is a reverse commute so not that bad, but still looks like a 30-40 min drive during rush hour.

Would love to hear from any one who has done this and their experience.

What age are your kids? Not everyone practice at Long Bridge

ECNL forces brave Union partnership in Virginia while at the same time adding many weaker clubs to the league? Seems their real goal is to strengthen the Richmond team and weaken the ability of nova teams to compete. Certainly Richmond is not better at developing talent than Nova clubs.

Haven’t they made the Nova teams stronger by doing this? And why did they add Beach recently?

Forcing the partnership strengthened the club. It didn’t weaken it.

Strengthened which club? FVU? It’s a new club.

Pity. He's attended my daughter's training sessions. I've met him and his son. She's only U12.

I was about to say the same we’ve seen him many times at our U 16 daughters practices throughout the years – and at tournaments.

Yeah, I don’t think moms on here are realizing FVU is not McLean, BRYC or Vienna. Those clubs don’t have ECNL anymore (for those that had it before). FVU is a different club under a separate entity and board.

The Iranian coaches have been the absolute worst we have had.

There are other considerations about Long Bridge than just the commute. For one, the planes coming into Reagan are constantly flying over the field and fly so close to the field that the field is covered in fuel exhaust. I would not want my kid sucking into toxic fumes three times a week and once or twice on weekends. It’s also built on a brownfield. I actually don’t know how Arlington parents put up with it.

U10 was at Thomas Jefferson Community Center and Kenmore Middle school in the fall. Currently at Long Bridge and Powhattan in the Spring.

Other ages would be something similar.

Who is on the board at FVU?

Yep sometimes the planes even land on the field to make practice interesting.
