To anyone new to the thread, this is a key post. Amongst 260 pages of one poster attacking any valid and supported criticism of DCUA by attacking the messenger, you will find little to anything positive about DCUA. I will boil it down. The players at DCU are some of the most talented players in the region. Training with the highest level (and most physical) players has value. There doesn't seem to be anything DC United does well, when compared with its MLS Academy peers. If so, we'd love to hear it. How about some data, or verifiable facts, or even anecdotal evidence that DCUA is a "strong academy"? |
What evades your simple one-track mind, is no one cares to debate you with your tunnel vision determination to sling mud at DC United, DCUA, the players and the parents A couple folks occasionally just point out your unsubstantiated emotional biased BS You're seeking an argument to scratch your itch. People won't indulge you. Now continue |
I'm not a frequent poster here and I don't know why you think I have a bias, or who I am. But you've again proven the point, by not saying anything positive about the academy. What do they do well? |

Our son loved the futures experience and it was more than worth it for us. It was a great experience so with my limited knowledge of the academy i still think it’s something they did well.

💯 I don’t doubt it but that is not a hard bar to clear coming from P2P. We are at a “top” club and it is a 💩 show compared to our experiences overseas so DCU Academy should be an upgrade on P2P as you have experienced. When DMV born and raised players such as Luka Bentt, Makai Wells and Gustavo Borges are advancing far faster than their counterparts in the DCU academy isn’t it fair to start asking questions in order to improve or should we just remain complacent? |
Which idiot says they know soccer, throws out 3 names that took a different path and seriously ask why isn't everyone taking those paths? Did all three of those names you name-dropped take the same exact path to where they are now, wherever that is? Speaking of which, where is for example Makai Wells today that no DC Academy players hasn't been? |
Why isn't every kid from Cavan Sullivan's area his age and the Philly Union Academy where he is today? They all have an agreement and pending contract with a Premier League club? |
| My son was at DCU and then went on to better things. It's about the player and not the environment. Stop whining. |
You can replace "DCU" with any club academy in this sentence and it applies to thousands of professionals over the years all over the globe |
Came to DCU last year, was at RedBulls the prior 2 years. Brooklyn native. |
I guess you don't know too much to know as they all originated in the same place. Two had passports, one did not. All aimed to get away from DCU. Since you are back and we have your attention, how many kids from Philly are in our RDS system? That was the last question posed. You conveniently disappear when asked any question to support DCU. |
Better things like a European contract or the typical Homegrown contract/D1 scholarship DCU special? If you are a DCU alum, tell them to give us their rights to tag U14 players in the +5 so kids can have freedom of movement since DCU did not invest in them at all. Philly is directly trying to circumvent DCU's territorial rights and openly talking to families. This would not exist if DCU was handling it's business. |
You are asking for DC United to change MLS rules being used by all MLS Clubs? |
So? How does that change the signing? |
