No, they offered DL for all who applied to VA. Parents screamed they didn't want virtual or hybrid so you got what you asked for. You told parents it had to be in person or deal with it. So, those of us who were uncomfortable with our kids being around yours due to behavior choose VA. Now its time for you to deal with it when your kids get quarantined. Oh well.. It is viable long-term. Many kids are doing virtual long term. It may not be viable for your family as you need free child care but that's a different issue.

How many?

Exactly. And how many are regretting it?

There are about 3200 students in virtual. More applications pending.

We don't regret it.

You don't regret it because you like being a martyr even though it is obvious at this point that school reopening hasnt driven infections in the community and that kids are fine.

No just don't like being around the covid crazies who can't keep their masks on or are in all out denial

Sounds like a win-win then. I doubt anyone likes being around you, too.

Agreed. It’s best if people like PP stay home because their newfound inability to function in the “in-person” world would ruin it for everybody else. I feel for their kids, though, who are hostages in these situations.

+1. Similarly, I recently learned that the dedicated outside-lunch-brigade at our school convinced the principal to let THEIR kids eat outside every day (everyone else is on a rotation because there isn’t space for all kids every day). My initial reaction was “huh?!” but really, it shuts them up so better for everyone else and now the school can move forward. Some of these parents were constantly sucking all the energy out of the room.

the latest attack of the reckless reopener crowd. going after those who are trying to advocate for safer lunch outside. See twitter exchange from you know who. what gives?

They're disingenuous- they only care about their own kids eating outside.

Nope, and if more parents advocated for it then the school would make outside lunch possible for all

Of course they only care about their kids. The issue is staff. Most schools don't have enough staff to handle it all. At this point, I can only worry about my kids and not others. Your actions impact my actions.

Staff and sometimes appropriate space. My kid’s class eats outside every other week and I respect that as a compromise because it allows the ones still inside to be more spaced out. I’d actually be pretty pissed if I found out that some kids were getting special treatment just because their mom had the principal on speed dial.

Girl, if you think MoCo is full of covid-crazies, you need a reality check. Did you mean crazy-cautious? This is the land of masks on playgrounds.

That's exactly what she means by Covid-crazies.

The covid-forever crowd that things the disease is lurking behind every bush ready to pounce on their child.

Those are the covid-crazies

I am currently at a local park waiting for my son to finish soccer practice. There is a little obscure playground here that no one ever visits. There is a family of 4 at the playground in masks. There is no one around them. Just them and their toddlers. What are they scared of?

Why do you care? For all you know, one of them is recovering from cancer. Butt out!

This- we know a family that wear masks around eachother at home too because dad has to go into the office part-time and one kid is back in school. Just easier to wear masks then worry about transmission at home. The family at the playground could have a similar family policy.

Precisely, my wife is an respiratory therapist and our kid is high risk. What's it to you?

This.

Sometimes with young kids it's easier to keep one rule. A bright line.

These posts are just right-wing fodder. I don't believe this for a second. It's just the kind of thing they love to post to stir up antimask resentment.

I still don't get why a family playing by themselves would wear masks, especially when they are accepting much bigger risks with a respiratory therapist in the family, but YMMV. Even when masks outside were all the rage, I would only put them on myself and my kids when other people showed up at the playground.
