She wants the cruise line to admit fault and settle because if the cruise line admits fault that helps Grandpa's claim of innocence. |
That’s the second my sympathy for that family vanished. |
| Not sure if this is related, but RC announced today that it’s pulling out of PR in 2020. While it’s likely related to privatization of the port and increased costs along with instability, I wonder if RC was annoyed that PR dragged their feet when it came to pressing charges against Grandpa. |
The parents have been on talk shows blaming the cruise line. They haven't even looked at the video. How do they know what happened if they won't even watch the video? I just feel like they have been doing everything they can to try to sway public sympathy over to their side in order to pressure the cruise line to settle. |
The family has stated they are suing long before Grandpa was charged. Their suit has nothing to do with helping his criminal charges. |
She's a prosecutor, he's a cop. They probably knew that Grandpa was going to be charged. They also probably wanted to get money from the cruise line. |
| I would be livid if my dad pulled a stunt like this with any of his grandkids. How is the family so staunchly defending grandpa? |
It’s a calculated tactic. The less grandpa is at fault, the more the cruise line is at fault. |
I recently read an article that was posted on FB. After reading the comments, I was reminded how dumb the general population is |
| At first I thought the family was motivated by grief. If the cruise ship was negligent, it wasn't grandpa's fault. Now, I'm not so sure. Even in interviews, the grandpa sets it up to fake sympathy and blame the cruise ship. The lawyers standpoint is the cruise line ignored safety regulations and in interviews, grandpa cries and says things like "if there was just a sign I never would have done it". It's all very calculated and makes me suspect the family's motivation is money, not grief |
It all gives me a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. I don't understand their thought processes. Something seems off to me. |
This is all that it is. |
Has he said what those regulations are? I’ve heard him say this a few times but then I haven’t seen any examples. |
If this had happened to one of my kids I would be hospitalized under sedation if it didn't kill me outright. I don't understand how they so quickly thought "lawsuit". Initially, I assumed the lawyer approached them when they were vulnerable and grief stricken and they were in such shock that they went along with whatever they said. But it sounds like the family may have mentioned suing the cruise line first and may have even contacted this lawyer?? |
The death happened on Sunday morning July 7. The reports on Monday, July 8 gave no details other than that the PR police were still interviewing the family, plus some comments when the father and grandfather's employers back in Indiana were interviewed. The news reports on Tuesday, July 9 were all given by the lawyer. That means that on Monday, they were already lawyering up. And the lawyer was already talking about suing the cruise line and how unsafe it was and describing the "dining room" as a children's play area. All very calculated. In addition, the grandpa's story from the first day to a few weeks later had drastically changed. They started plotting this within 24 hours of their daughter's death. Really? Cold blooded people who cared more for a money grab at a corporation than for mourning for their lost child. Sick. |
