Sometimes people do crazy, unthinkable, nonsensical things. In addition to the grandmother at Tyson's, there was a man at the Mall of America who walked up to a 5 year old boy, picked him up and tossed him off a mall balcony right in front of the boy's horrified mother. He didn't even know the child.
I don't know what the Grandpa was thinking but I can't help but see some similarities with the above incidents. |
Do you think the horrified mother was then defending that man, and trying to get money out of the company who owns the mall saying that there shouldn't have been a balcony in the whole building? |
Maybe he resented chasing around the active toddler and providing free babysitting services while everyone else was enjoying themselves. Caring for toddlers is exhausting and he seemed terribly out of shape and trailing a good distance behind. Maybe he snapped and didn't want to be bothered with caring for baby anymore. Holding this active toddler single handedly that high over an open window ledge is so bizarre. |
That boy was thrown off the mall balcony on April 12, 2019 and Chloe was dropped out of the cruise ship window on July 7, 2019 - less than 3 months apart. It makes me wonder if the grandfather was having some sort of intrusive thoughts regarding the Mall of America incident and that led to what happened to Chloe. Just trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense. |
Yes, I have wondered if that was the dynamic in the family. "Oh, you two relax! I'm sure that Grandpa will run Chloe over to the play area while you two finish your lunch. Right, Grandpa?" |

I don't understand how the lawyer could have watched that video and STILL go after a lawsuit. It's clear as day that he hung his body out the window first so there is NO way you can claim that any reasonable person wouldn't be aware it was open.
That said, what a horrific video to watch. I had this awful feeling because you knew what was going to happen. In some way, it may be good to have the parents watch it. Maybe it would help give them some closure if they knew 100% what happened, not what the lawyer says, or wha tthe grandpa says, or what the media says. |
You're thinking too hard. Little girl was in a wet swim suit that was sort of loose (see last pics of her in pink suit and white hat). Male relative ('cause he's not really old like a grandpa would be) thinks it pretty cool to look out at the view and feel the breeze. Male relative picks up little girl thinking he has a hold of her. Little girl wiggles, male relative looses his grip. Girl dies b/c it was far more risky than he appreciated. Male relative is shocked and a story is concocted that he must have thought the window was there. Male relative picks up the story line to protect himself from the truth--> he caused a child's death. That's really all there is. He thought he had her, but he didn't. And then the lies began with the hiring of the lawyer and the PR spin. |
Agreed. I get why people try to put some spin on this to grandpa being evil or doing it on purpose..etc. It provides some protection that none of us or none of our loved ones could make a miscalculation like this. The reality is, there are tons of these miscalculations a day. Parent or whoever is in charge of the kid thinks something is a good idea without calculating all the risks, and then something happens. |
Wiggles out of fear. What grandpa did is just as bad as holding a baby out of a Farris Wheel. Babies dont appreciate the views the way an adult would from cruise ship balconys etc. Baby probably hated the wind in her face. Stupid, stupid, stupid grandpa. |
+1 I have 3 kids, including a girl the same age as Chloe was. Kids are heavier and stronger and squirm more than people realize. Even I'm surprised a lot of the time. As my chiropractor knows well. The guy was just ridiculously reckless. Once he held her up there, falling became more likely than not. |
dear GOD No! what video! I haven't read all 36 pages, so please tell me what video you're talking about
|
| Why would he lean over a rail 18 inches away from a window if he thought that window was closed? Wouldn't he worry about hitting his head? |
| The other thread has already covered all of this if you guys would like to head over there to catch up. Not sure why this other thread was resurrected. |
Google “cbs grandfather knew window was open” to get story posted 2 days ago. Grainy security video that’s a bit unsettling. |
I think the word "horrific' to describe the video is extreme. You really can't see much. "Horrific" would be a good word to describe what those other passengers you can see in the video went through. Knowing they were steps away while the little girl plummeted to her death. I'm sure some of them may have even looked and saw the baby's body on the concrete below. Absolutely tragic that they had to endure that on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation for them. I feel so bad for poor little Chloe. I feel terrible for the other passengers. Zero sympathy for the reckless lying grandfather or the money grubbing, ignorant parents. |
