Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

VLC 2022's are scrimmaging Madlax 2022's...I wonder if it will be Madlax Capital or DMV? Capital beat them pretty soundly this summer. The last time VLC 2022 played the DMV it was clear that the DMV team was just a money grab for Madlax rather than a quality squad.

VLC losing to Madlax still showed individual talent on the VLC but as a team Capital was just too much for them...would be nice to see that gap close but I'm not sure that will happen just yet..

Sad to see him go. He gave a lot of his time. Even if he was a bit strange. . .

+1 on all three points

What does the current 2024 landscape look like going into the fall? Did VLC pick up any talent or same kids? Will they be moved to AAA division in spring?

I heard there were a lot of new players on the 24 team this season.

6-7 new players on VLC 24s

No coach change but 2021 had big changes. A few kids went to Top Caliber. No idea about others.

LOL. VLC to TC? Really? Parents imbibing a bit too much Merlot, maybe? Doesn’t make any sense unless you were a bench warmer, and I am pretty sure VLC just runs through the line equally.

TC has facilities that VLC does not.
STJ indoor facilities aren't all that to leave in the last year of club lacrosse, must be other reasons as well.

Two kids that left for TC go to Madison. Coach Solomon coaches at Top Caliber, and after what Solomon did for that Madison program this year, those kids would walk through fire for him. That said, I agree that if any dad thinks by leaving VLC just before junior year that is his son is going to somehow become the top kid on Duke’s board, well, there is a bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale.

Another left for NL because his friends from Gonzaga play there. Another went to Evergreen. Two did not go back out because they don’t think they want to play in college: why spend the $$ if you don’t want to reach for a college slot. Not sure if others left or got cut.

For what it’s worth, VLC put on a recruiting event in Tyson’s this week that was spectacular, and showed the families that attended how extensive and wide-reaching the VLC network is. By walking away from VLC 2021, those dads just burnt the VLC networking “bridge” behind them for their sons. Short-sighted, in my opinion. And for what, a few more wins at tournaments against middling teams?

My son played in a top program and I dont want to say where, because is world is small. In high school he was DE for math, graduated with a 4.4 and was an excellent lacrosse player. He had a half dozen offers. The level of play combined with his GPA made him very attractive. All of thos offers contained some scholarship money (not much). He opted not to play lacrosse and instead accept an academic scholarship to his dream school. He is currently in the pre med program and plays intramural for fun.

Some kids just live playing at a high level, but sont want it to be their full time job in college. Especially kids smear enough to get into whatever school they want.

So what does the near-final recruitment numbers look for 2020?

16 boys recruited so far.

What about 2021. Any commits yet?

Saw the 2022 team play today. It was weird. There are some kids who are clearly talented but as a team something was just missing. If I were the coaches (or any of the parents) I wouldn't be disappointed to see any/all of the attack get replaced. I heard one parent saying that they were missing a bunch of quality kids. Hope that is the case because they looked not so much bad but just not gelled as a team. I don't know if it is lack of practice, chemistry, wall ball or what. Again there are some talented kids and the coaching is good, but that team just didn't look like you would think they would. VLC usually puts a pretty solid squad on the field.

VLC 2024 team beat Loonies 6-2 in the Maryland tourney today. Crabs beat Madlax. Not sure of other scores as lots of games were canceled.

Sucks for a bunch of teams that only got to play 1 game - rain actually was slowing down and even stopped, no high wind or thunder, and of course all the turf fields were playable - why did they close the tourney early "because of weather?" No refunds, oh well.

Yes, it was totally ridiculous. The kids (and parents) were already soaked, they weren't going to get any more wet than they already were.
