The president referred to Africa and Haiti as "sh!thole" countries. Putting aside the fact that Africa is a continent, the takeaway is still the same: the crazy person in the White House is a racist. He's not only a racist, but an extremely dumb one who lacks the basic common sense to not say such racist things out loud during meetings with other people.

His latest comment simply cannot be defended.

Perhaps his comment cannot be defended but certainly his sentiment can, which is that Third World immigrants flooding the country ever since the 1965 immigration act has not been good for America. America has the right to maintain its European heritage.

First of all, when those Europeans immigrated to the US, those countries were shitholes.

Secondly, why does America have the "right" to maintain its European heritage when they brought Africans here to begin with, and built this country on the backs of people from all over the world.. Chinese in the west building railroads, Mexicans in the southwest, African slaves in the south? Without the slave labor, I doubt America would have been as prosperous as it was.

Why does everyone in the world want to emigrate only to Western countries (and Japan, but Japan is very selective as to who they let in)?

Western societies have high standards of living, but this is enabled by liberal democracy, low tolerance for corruption, and high social trust.
We can assimilate some amount of people, but since 2000, we are now allowing 1 million legal immigrants in per year and have the largest foreign born population in 100 years.

So? People want to immigrate here because America is *still* the land of opportunity. It has been for over 250 years. That's why people want to immigrate here. It's why your ancestors came here, unless you are a descendant of African slaves or Native American. What makes your ancestors any different than those who want to immigrate here today from other sh1thole countries your ancestor probably came from?

My ancestors were British settlers, not immigrants, who built this society and I am part of their posterity.

They came here nearly 400 years ago, took the land from the indians and made what we enjoy today.

Which explains why those who are motivated enough emigrate to the United States and other countries, if they can. And the United States, for all of its history, has taken those who are able to, come to the US and build a new, prosperous life. And for the United States, it is a great benefit to have new immigrants who ultimately are accretive to our GDP.
