Wow, I didn't think I could be shocked by DCUM, but I am blown away by the hatred and anger displayed towards Otto who is basically in a vegetative state. And towards his family for making a mildly critical statement towards Obama.
A new low for DCUM? |

I'm a lefty liberal and I have the utmost compassion and sorrow for the young man and his family. I don't blame them for anything they say, because they are obviously grief stricken and anyone in their circumstance would be. Did he do something idiotic? Yes. Did many of us do idiotic things as 20 year olds? Yes. It's always tragic when a young person dies or is tragically injured when they do something really dumb (get in a car with a drunk driver, pass out in the middle of a road, jump off a cliff into the water and hit their head on a rock, etc., etc.). Young people think they are bullet proof, and they are not. Its why parents go around with their heart in their mouth.
Do I blame the Obama administration? No. Could they have done more? Maybe, I don't know. North Korea is bat-shit crazy in a way that is very difficult to deal with and very unpredictable. I'm not really in a position of second-guessing how professionals deal with an insane man with nuclear weapons. But I don't blame Otto's parents for second-guessing the politicians. A new administration often has some leeway to negotiate where the other country is looking for an "out" (think the Iranian hostage crisis, also resolved during an administration change). |
Really? Turn on an episode of Judge Judy one afternoon. There is at least one in every episode. |
Can you prove he willfully defied the law? N. Korean officials say he did. Can you prove it or are you in the habit of simply believing the North Koreans? |
+1 I was also thinking about the Iranian hostage crisis. I believe they were released right after Reagan took office. |
North Korea says he willfully defied the law. Can you prove he did? Are you in the habit of believing rogue nations? |
North Korean talking point. How do you know he broke their laws for sure? Because they said so and some fuzzy video anyone could fake? |
We do not know if, in fact, he did, and to trust a blurry video put out by NK to justify their actions, is another bad choice and reckless. |
I'd suggest perhaps it's time for you to emerge from your bubble and gain some perspective. Innocent people (including Americans) are unnecessarily dying every day from a myriad of causes without one iota of the publicity and angst-y handwringing this gentleman has received. |
Agree. We once had some welfare mom (teenager) work a few hours a week in our office as some part of a welfare-to-work scheme, and she always came in with professionally done nails and pretty fancy outfits. I especially remember her hats. (She was pretty incompetent, by the way.) |
The Iranians wanted to embarrass Carter and damage his reelection prospects, which is why they did not release the hostages earlier. So not the same. |
Which is why you don't go to countries like North Korea! |
Show me where the family is blaming the politicians for the outcome because all I see is a quotation from the father asking "Do I think the past administration could have done more? I think the results speak for themselves." I interpret that to mean that he thinks the Obama administration could have done more in an attempt to have their son released, not that Obama is at fault for their son's health condition. |
Not the poster you're responding to, but first....that poster didn't say she despises welfare recipients,,,,and two, the taxpayers are paying for her bad choices. So even if she's not doing anything illegal, it's still costing us to house her and her children, feed her and her children, and provide medical care for her and her children, educate the children, give them free lunch and breakfast, etc., etc. Also, growing up in poverty is not an excuse. Both my parents were dirt-poor, and they made responsible decisions. They are now middle-class. (Upper-middle, actually.) I'm so fed up with liberals who make excuse after excuse for welfare recipients and show absolutely no compassion for this college kid. |

The ignorance about North vs South Korea on this thread is stunning. Apparently some people have never heard of the Korean War. I also feel bad for the inevitable Chinese American who is about to be attacked because a Trumpkin wants to MAGA and goes on a rampage because he is angry with "Koreans" over this. And not only misses the North v South Korea distinction, but thinks that all Asians are Koreans.
I realize Trumpkins have short attention spans, no intellectual curiousity, and can't google. But can you manage a Wikipedia article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Demilitarized_Zone Pease, read at least the primer, before you talk about turning North Korea into a pile of rubble, or how Korean Americans should "go home" to North Korea. I can't post pics from this computer. Can someone please post some pictures of the DMZ for clueless Trumpwads? |
