Think about this.

Mark and Kris were on 99.5, they got canned, Kane comes in.

I know people have said he brings in advertising dollars, but this is radio, one of the riskiest businesses out there, so the entire show could be gone. As others have said, this is a PR nightmare, and enough time has passed for iHeart to come up with a plan to do something.

Of course, nothing could happen, Danni leaves (well, it gets announced) and life goes on.

We're Mark and Kris #3 in the market when they got fired? I highly doubt it. No one is going to dump the highest rated morning show of that genre over this.

Similarly to Kane who does score #1 in some demos when the numbers are released, Mark and Kris claimed to be #1 in their main demo (women 18-34). They probably were telling the truth. This was the statement released when they were fired:

Statement from Mark Kaye: http://www.markkaye.com/
"As of today Kris Gamble and I are no longer on the air at HOT 99.5/WIHT-FM. We were informed after this morning's broadcast that our contract was not being renewed. We are still processing this surprising turn-of-events. Summer 2006 was our best ratings period ever. We are Number 1 with Women 18-34 (Hot 99.5's Key Demographic) and had a 9.0 share overall. While we are baffled by the decision of Hot 99.5's management, we respect that it was theirs to make. We look forward to bringing our Number 1 Rated Morning Show to a new outlet soon."

When they got fired, the program director was someone who had previously worked with Kane, and iheart (Clear Channel at the time) probably saw Kane as a younger, hipper person to bring to a major market. If you recall as well, Teapot Tim, who was Mark and Kris' version of the sidekick, but older, left the show a few months before when his contract expired.

I think that is when Samy came in as I believe he was on the show prior to Kane. If I recall, he was referred to as "slacker samy" before just becoming Samy. Maybe there is hope John can lose the Intern title one day then as well.

I remember being stunned that they up and fired ("didn't renew") Mark and Kris. They ended up going to Florida for a time and at least one of them isn't on the air anymore.

I really feel like Kane is getting stale. The problem is that the show is SO PREDICTABLE. They do the same bits on exactly the same day and time, do a few scheduled bits, and then more predictable shit. I like Sarah's Hey Frase because they don't have a script or hard timeline to stick to, they don't do the same stuff over and over, and they seem genuine. IJ seems like he's really forcing the "go against the grain" bit, Kane is a hot ass mess, and although I think Rose is a sweet person I agree that she's just not interesting enough for radio. She has to be more polarized to be really interesting - take the slut shaming for example. Had she stood up for herself and shot back about feminism and a woman's right to sleep with people whenever she wants, that would have been a whole lot more entertaining then just giving up and rolling over.

Woah, posted this earlier but didn't realize I did it within a previous quote, so I'll post again! I feel like the difference between that and TKS is that I'm assuming their contracts aren't up (considering Danni just signed a 3 year contract in what, October I think people on this thread have said? And I doubt Danni re-signed for 3 years if Kane didn't have at least that long left in his contract. I don't know how the contracts work or anything, but I feel like they would have a huge issue on their hands if they got rid of a morning show that has time left in their contract.

I've been listening to TKS since it replace the hot morning mess. I don't think they're going to get rid of Kane any time soon... unless he has some mental break and really snaps, or gets offered an even higher paying job. WHY would anyone want Danni to come back now? It would be so weird and awkward. Obviously he's not on her side or trying to fight for her or anything so why would they work together again

What I don't understand is if this is something between iheart and danni why is Kane letting things be deleted off of his FB page? If it was between Kane and Danni then I can see why he's trying to limit the comments on his page.

If it's between iheart and Danni then wouldn't Kane want, since they're "family" and all, to leave the comments as support so hopefully iheart will see? Even if they can't say anything they definitely aren't taking any chances trying to defend her or whatever.

Just this whole thing is so fishy to me. I guess it goes back to her loyalty comment she made a couple weeks ago.

A lot of people have been commenting that TKS can use the past few weeks as repeats since they don't feature Danni. Why don't they just use the days when she was out on maternity leave, or on one of her many vacations? If people only recently started listening, that would be like a new show to them, and no Danni on it.

Honestly... i'm just as curious as you all are. but everyones looking waaaaaaaaaay to into some stuff. Obviously some shit went down and she's dunzo. It will all come out eventually so we just gotta wait. Shes being obnoxious and posting incessant BS all day long because now she's unemployed and bored and needs attention. They're probably ALL not allowed to talk about it because she could be trying to hit them with a lawsuit.

It used to be a really great show. It has gone down hill significantly in my opinion. With the original three Kane, Sarah and Sammy, they actually discussed great topics, and the dynamics was great between them. Mel eventually grew on me, but ever since the left, honestly the show was not the same.

this is not the place to promote that bullshit. I'll sign one to never hear her on the radio or tv again.

I love you ^

To sum up:

Danni got a side gig on tv, and that made Kane feel outshined. He raised a big stink about how her new gig was adversely impacting the show and set the wheels in motion to push her out. She filed a lawsuit based on discrimination, and now they are locked in negotiations for a settlement with a big payout.

Why anyone continues to listen to Kane is beyond me. He's no longer young, and he was never hip. He can no longer play the family guy role since he's divorced. He's too old to play the bachelor without looking desperate and creepy. His remaining sidekicks are talentless and boring. His entire show is fake, and everyone knows it. So why do people continue to listen?

Oh man if there's litigation involved then this shit is going to BLOW UP. But I bet iheart would settle that as quickly as possible to keep it quiet.

Of course they will settle. They'll buy out her contract and then some.

She will be richer than Kane, and won't have to work for it.

On Sarah's podcast yesterday Sammy said something about how this must be the year for big lawsuits and she just laughed and moved on without asking what he was talking about. It stuck out to me, I thought he was throwing shade at TKS and Danni. After hearing that it solidified my thought that there is some litigation going on

Is this fact or speculation?

Well, just speculation... The beef keeping Danni off the air might just be between Danni and the execs that make the decisions. I guess it's possible that Kane misses her and wants her back and they are on good terms but he is just under strict instruction to keep quiet about the whole thing... Again, I don't think Kane is as powerful regarding his show as people might think. He is not Danni's boss.

Though it might be weird, she might come back and they might say that she was gone based on a contractual... idk, misunderstanding, hiatus, etc that prevented Danni from being on the air (maybe blame the union again) and they couldn't say anything but now everything is cleared and they are good to go and "yay, the family is back together" yadda yadda yadda.
