Because they are fake Christians that refuse to do anything about it, and just revel in killing kids? I guess from the party of pedos it’s not a surprise.

You don't know that their prayers are fake, and you certainly take on an air of superioriry and judgment to think you know who's a "fake Christian."

Saying "thoughts and prayers" is perhaps the most useless and laziest thing to stay and do. It literally requires no effort and does nothing to help anyone.

Also, spotting a fake Christian is perhaps the easiest thing to do. Usually they have some sort of proverb in their social media (that they never follow), some modern farmhouse decor, and that they vote MAGA.

I wear a cross every day, write messages and notes to my friends and family when they're suffering and say with love and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, pray every day for those on my prayer list, am moderately conservative, live in the south, want more gun controls, and voted for Harris.

They are college educated and only vacation in other large cities, some beautiful national parks or outside of the country. They have never been to Indiana, Nebraska or Iowa and never will. ? Those people have probably also never been to CA or DC or NY. So what? Did you know that there are plenty of working class people in CA and NY? My parents were working class, blue collar, and they have lived in CA for 50+ years.

You could write very similar stories about FDR and John Kennedy. Neither were the “best and brightest” of their generation, and advanced on someone else’s coattails. But I’d sure take them today.

A very different era. That was the 1920s, 1930s and 40s. When the offspring of the elite often grew up with a sense of purpose and obligation. JFK jr was probably the last remnant of that era, which I don't think he wanted. But it's a different time today. In 2025, does anyone want Mark Zuckerberg's kids or the Walmart heirs running anything?

The inherited rich have been useless for a very long time now. And actually, the wealthy offspring of successful families are often the enemy to all that is good and decent about America. Leave those children to their instagram posts and do not encourage wealthy parasites to become involved in politics. Money matters so much in contemporary politics. But we really don't need useless, untalented rich kids to represent anyone today. That time is done.

But you'll note that the Bush family is done as a political force in America today. The only person keeping the Kennedy family relevant in 2025 is Trump. Just boomer legacy bc Trump is old and that's a catch for him.

There aren't any other scions of prominent families making a name for themselves today. Now it's all dark money - like Ken Griffen at Citadel and the hedge fund money or Miriam Adelson and the casino money. Not good people. The billionaire people today are profoundly trashy. There is no Roosevelt or Kennedy family today. Those that inherit all that money nowadays tend to be very scummy individuals - whether the Walton family or the Sackler family and so on.

It's been decades since anyone with inherited wealth did anything good. And Newsom is a part of that world. He is not a champion of the working or middle class because he doesn't even know what that is.

I cannot vote for anyone today that has no life experience in the working or middle class. Today's inherited rich are genuine scum, and Newsom is a part of that. There are no Kennedys or Roosevelts among these families.

The rich today are very different. And Democrats would be absolute idiots for choosing some mediocre rich guy as their candidate.

The Democrats need to choose a clear alternative, in affect and in positions. That’s not Newsom.

Newsom has brilliantly shined a light to the double standard Trump enjoys. Newsom’s tweets highlight the sanewashing of Trump’s tweets and other statements and actions. It’s been a huge service to the Democratic brand to stand up to Trump rather than capitulate the way so many do.

But the French Laundry thing crystallizes how Newsom enjoys the “Rules for Thee, Not for Me” level of privilege that so many others in our rigged system enjoy. Trump has made societal favoritism blatant and explicitly transactional. But that means it’s even more important that the Democrats nominate someone who runs on fairness and opportunity while NOT taking advantage of their special status. Someone who attends a luxe birthday dinner at an exclusive French restaurant during Covid when he himself had banned such gatherings, that person can’t be the nominee. It has to be someone who has opportunities to trade on their position or status and does not do so. It has to be someone who pushes for fairness and opportunity for all, while also pushing to ban the privileged from exploiting those special privileges.

That’s the contrast the Democrats must draw, a contrast that will surely cost big-dollar donors and will push ostensibly moderate Cuomo “Democrats” into the MAGA fold. But the public will be craving authenticity in the next Presidential election. That authenticity is critical to overcome all the obstacles the Republicans to throw up as they seek to consolidate their power. The question for me is which Democrat can meet that standard, but it’s certainly not Newsom.

In any case, the image of Newsom dining at a Thomas Keller restaurant while the rest of California was locked down and either banned or discouraged from activities basic to modern life, is absolutely going to haunt him if he runs.
