Teams avoiding get embarrassed by the fab 5. Smart. Keeps up morale for now. |
| 3 games no crossover. |
Oakton quickly surpassing Langley for the most obnoxious, overhyped posters on DCUM. Hint to the Oakton folks and the "Fab 5", do these things first: 1) Make Varsity 2) Win one game on Varsity 3) Win one game in the regular VHSL spring season 4) Win a quality game - I would say that the first test will be Riverside on 3/25/26, but I don't know if you will beat LB on 3/23 5) Have a winning record vs the following teams Riverside, Robinson, Battlefield, Chantilly, Yorktown, Madison - Yes go 4-2 |

Centerville parent here... Last night concluded the 4 day team camp between Centerville, Woodson, Patriot, and Westfield High Schools Varsity Lacrosse teams.
That was a super fun camp that I hope they continue to do for years to come, and maybe even expand it to additional teams. The format of the camp each day was for the first hour, they divided up the players and coaching staff from all 4 schools between two fields. On one end were all the attackmen from all 4 schools with one offense coach from all 4 programs. They did the same thing with all the other position groups (All 4 schools fogos, mids, goalies, and D poles were together by their position with the various positional coaches from those different schools). It was awesome to see all the different teams coaches working together with players from different schools, teaching them high level concepts. Starting on night 2, during the 2nd half of the camp each day, the schools had an hour-long scrimmage against each other with some HOF VHSL Refs in attendance to ref these games. After the three nights of the teams playing each other, here was the 4 schools final records: -Woodson (3-0) -Westfield (2-1) -Centerville (1-2) -Patriot (0-3) This camp was an awesome experience for all the kids, and their respective staff. Looking forward to doing this again next year, and excited to see these programs compete this spring! |
Asking I guess out of jealousy, how is that within VHSL rules with Green/Yellow days etc? |
No different than playing in fall brawl / turkey shootout |
But it was directly coached by the team coaches, which I don't think happens at Fall Brawl. |
New VHSL rule change this year allows coaches to coach their team in offseason games and tournaments like VEL, Fall brawl, etc.. Just counts towards a greenday. Each team is permiteed 32 total "Green days" or days the coaches can coach their team |
This is outrageous, nobody could surpass Langley's parents for being obnoxious, both during games and on the forums. Especially when Oakton parents have been some of the most tame and respectful in recent years. Also, expecting the fab 5 to be able to take down some of these teams as freshman is a little crazy, but once they become consistent varsity starters these claims seem like the floor from what I've seen out of them. |
This is a great explanation, thanks! Also I now know that my kid's HS coach isn't going to get close to 25% of the use of Green days, what the heck??!? |
why post the records? |
We are 27 pages into over analyzing how high school teams compare to one another. You do t think that people would want to read the results of 4 teams scrimmaging each other? |
^^^why we chose private school^^^ |
Advocate to your school board to pay coaches more. They are expected to work year round for a 5k stipend (before taxes). Then, they hold green days and work outs during the off season that only half the players attend. Then they have parents complain about not holding 32 Green Days. Interesting dilemma. |
