I am not sure I would use my main phone to travel now.

Aren’t they asking for five years of phone numbers and email addresses though? Even a business traveler uses their personal passport.

Businesses will move entirely to Zoom. I’d rather wake up in the middle of the night to take a meeting than put up with this nonsense,

I don't understand how they check 5+ years of anyone's records??!! For any and every foreigner visiting US - come on! How much work is that by any fed dept?

It will be selectively enforced. Watch out, brown folks.

They are enforcing against white green card / visa holders now. Won't be too long until they start with white tourists / business people.

Out of curiosity, how much has that hurt the Canadian airlines? Have they made up for it going elsewhere?

There are other warm weather destinations in the eastern hemisphere. Presumably they would just divert more to meet demand in Mexico, the Caribbean, and central and South America.

Last I saw, internal tourism to Canada is up. Many Canadians are considering it their patriotic duty to vacation locally.

Canadian love Cuba. Trump’s policies end up creating more migrants from Venezuela and more tourists to Cuba. But what do you expect from the guy who promised to lower prices by adding tariffs.

Just FYI, we are in the western hemisphere.

Lol, thanks. Meant to say east coast/western hemisphere. As in an easy flight from Montreal/Toronto to somewhere other than Florida

I live in Canada. We are travelling to Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe. Air Canada has changed its routes - fewer routes to the US, more to Mexico, etc.

10 years of e-mail addresses, 5 years of social media. They also want to collect not only face, fingerprint and iris scans, but also DNA. Plus birthplaces, birthdates, residences of many of your relatives (kids, parents, siblings). What are they going to do with the DNA?? With all these links, they will get a lot of DNA, which could in principle be used on many US citizens due to the family linkage information (which could be worth a lot of money to US insurance companies...).

International tourists detained at U.S. borders. Steep tariffs imposed on trade partners. Threats against longtime allies.

The onslaught of contested policies and language by the Trump administration in recent weeks is causing tourists around the globe to either cancel or reconsider travel to the United States. A growing number of visitors say they feel unwelcome or unsafe and are reluctant to support the economy of a country that some foreign officials say is waging trade wars and destabilizing its allies. A draft of a new travel ban circulating through the administration could restrict citizens from up to 43 countries, including Belarus, Cambodia and St. Lucia, from entering the United States.

“So many Americans are looking to escape the tense and toxic atmosphere at home. Why would anyone want to visit, especially right now with all the arbitrary detentions at immigration?” said Mallory Henderson, 53, a marketing consultant in London who usually visits the United States twice a year, but canceled a trip to visit her brother and niece in Boston this Easter.

“It’s a really hostile and scary time, and quite frankly, there’s plenty of other inviting and pleasant places I can go to meet up with my family,” she said.

It's worth a read - not just anecdotes, but data showing tourism down.

I know, great, right? Who needs tourism! Other than it bringing $2.3 trillion to the US economy - or not!

This is actually what America voted for. To keep those filthy foreigners out of our country.

Or so I am told.

Trump wanted the white people to keep coming but they are so disgusted hearing about Trump that they have no interest coming into this gun infested country.

I read somewhere that they rerouted flights to Caribbean destinations. So instead of going to Miami and Arizona, Canadians are taking flights to Barbados and Mexico.

A white Lithuanian woman asking to be deported to Lithuania, but ICE would rather spend our tax dollars holding her hostage in a cage.

Do Magas think this won’t eventually cross over to American citizens?

Heartbreaking story. They do not want to release these folks as the contracts specify that the feds still need to pay even for empty beds.
