UMichigan was on the list to be absolutely demolished as soft science NIH, NSF, DOE, DOL, HHS grants are being cancelled, and for the foreseeable future, not being renewed.

UMichigan's operating budget is around $3 billion.

There are reports circulating among its departments that it will lose between $400-600 million.

DP. My guess would be that the Trump administration likely still believes there are “left wing ideologues” there so not sure it means there won’t be some cuts.

Their 2nd choice school is UGA for a psych major. DC had all but dismissed all other schools after visiting UM. Should we be rethinking?

I hate the idea that DC worked hard to get a shot at their dream school, gets in and then we are watching all these attacks target said school.

Should have voted and/or campaigned harder for Harris rather than the raging anti-intellectual sociopath who won.

Many schools, especially Michigan, went way too far with DEI. But this childish performative over-response is not the right answer. But the base is eating it up as he "sticks it to the libs."

If you email the Econ department chair, you'll be told about the cuts. This isn't secret. They are retrenching RIGHT NOW and are planning for further massive retrenchments. Undergrad will be less affected that grad.
