If the Supreme Court says a President isn't criminally liable for an act, how could it be a "high crime" subject to impeachment? |
What checks? A partisan Congress chose not to hold Trump accountable suggesting that the ballot box and then the criminal justice system would take care of it. Well the ballot box was a start, but this undermines the criminal justice part of it. So then what? Trump gets away with it. |
The Supreme Court is not an effective measure of constitutionality and hasn't been for a while lately. It is partisan and, like so many other ideas of the Founding Fathers, no longer functioning as intended. |
Nope, it if falls within presidental duties and powers, it is now totally immune. Biden could declare that Trump, with his taking foreign money and making threats to the republic, is an existential threat to the republic and take him out under the pretext of maintaining the health and welfare of the republic. This is what the MAGA court wanted, so Joe should act on it. |
This goes back to whether you can impeach someone for something he was never even charged with much less convicted of. |
Impeachment was only ever about getting unfit people out of office and never about the criminality. That is why the Dems didn't vote to remove Clinton - lying about sex is bad, but it wasn't an act that was worthy of removal from office. Trump should have been removed for his trying to bribe the Ukranian president for personal gain. But the GOP chose not to, so here we are. Trump should have also been barred for seeking the presidency again by vote of the Senate in February 2021. But McConnell and the GOP side basically said, he is out of office and can now be held criminally liable for his actions. But the SCOTUS just removed that, so Trump is no immune because he will be able to argue that ANYTHING he did during his tenure in the White House, was a part of his duties. So staging a coup, taking out political opponents, blackmailing foreign leaders - all immune according to the SCOTUS. |
it isn't psychotic, it is reality. The SCOTUS - any pre-Trump SCOTUS, would have simply affirmed the lower court ruling back in January, THIS court, this corrupted court, has bent over backwards to give Trump a win, undermining centuries of the idea that no man is above the law. Biden, for as long as he is still president, whether it is 6 months or 4 and a half years, according to the SCOTUS, is now above the law. |
hahahahahaha. Because of lunatics expressing these opinions, rest assured Trump, if elected, will be pardoning himself this time so as not to take any chances whatsover after his term ends. |
Correct. Now Biden can defend America's interests without fear of criminal prosecution. |
Bye, bye DOJ independence
|
Not the Clinton lies again. He was impeached for lying about sex, he was impeached for perjury. |
Biden is now protected. A terrible occurrence under his watch and command. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/19/us/politics/afghanistan-drone-strike-video.html

And the perjury was about....? |
The DOJ has always been consulted to determine if a presidents actions are lawful or not. Remember when Obama went back and forth with his DOJ about what he could legally do about the Dreamers? |
