Children over 18 shouldn't be allowed to live in White House as permanent residents, visits and vacations are fine.

How are Republicans overplaying this? He’s being prosecuted by Joe Biden’s own DOJ.

I guess you never watch Fox News???

Why would I watch Fox News?

The situation here is straight forward. He declared that he wasn’t abusing drugs when he purchased the gun. He later wrote in his book that he was a drug addict at that time. So the facts are not in dispute. Biden’s attorney claims that the declaration isn’t factual but about state of mind and although he was a drug addict, he was in denial at the time and therefore it wasn’t a false declaration according to what Biden believed to be true. It’s a bad legal argument and if he is not convicted following Trump’s conviction it could be very bad and dangerous for our country.

If he’s guilty he’s guilty but Republicans playing it up are definitely clueless about how many Americans can relate to stories of addiction. And seeing a father and mother not give up on their wayward son. Republicans are ridiculous for thinking they can make that a negative thing.

They are using admissions that he made in a memoir about his recovery to prosecute him for an old victimless crime because Republicans demanded it. This is not something that would happen if he were anyone else.

The prosection tried to enter an obvious picture of sawdust and claimed it was cocaine. The form filled out by the gun shop was backdated with three different colors of ink but was submitted as a black and white pdf. The laptop cannot be authenticated because it was laundered through Rudy.

There's a very good reason why this case wasn't going anywhere until the political pressure was applied.

This is deep denial. He made a false declaration on a form in order to purchase a gun. It’s not complicated.

The problem is that the original form was altered and backdated.

I don't care what happens to him. He probably did make a false declaration however it's not in dispute that the gun shop did as well (and then tried to cover that up).

Most families have a “black sheep”. Many families have a loved one who struggles with addiction.

Only MAGA think a Hunter conviction will hurt President Biden. It won’t. If anything it helps Joe. It shows once again that he is a caring man and father. Juxtapose this with Trump, a horrible, cruel man.

I’ll take having a calm, steady and caring leader over an erratic, narcissist who whines that he’s a victim.

This crime is no different than what Marilyn Mosby or Trump were prosecuted for, false declarations.

No one disputes that he claimed to not abuse drugs on the form. No one disputes that his book proves that this was a false declaration. The fact that his book is about his struggles with addiction irrelevant.

It will hurt Biden more if he’s not convicted than if he is.

Which is really F-ed up. If a jury of 12 everyday Americans thinks the prosecution didn’t make a case they should find Hunter guilty. But MAGA demand a guilty verdict. Then comes to sentencing if the judge doesn’t give Hunter, the maximum sentence then MAGA and RW media scream it fixed.

Basically what you’re saying is that it’s impossible for Hunter to get a fair trial.

I do too. Fortunately I don’t have addiction in my family, yet. I know we are not immune. It can happen to any family. The Republican Commonwealth’s Attorney in my county was a neighbor. His daughter overdosed at some dealers house and he hid the body in a closet. Only daughter.

Hunter and his attorneys WANT to make this about his addiction and hope the jury will feel sorry for him. Glad that he has gotten sober. Addiction is something most families can relate to.

But, this is a case about lying on a federal firearms form. As the prosecutor said - addiction isn't a choice. Trying to buy a firearm and lying on a federal form are a choice. And, this when his father pushes for more stringent firearms laws and harsher punishment when the laws are broken.

his dad made very strict drug laws that HB never had to worry about being prosecuted under.

No, most families don't have a black sheep. Families who has done something wrong in their lives, paying up to the seventh generation for their wrongdoings.

It shows that his programs that local commonwealth attorneys pushing up instead of incarcerating drug addicts are fraud. If Bidens with all their money could not provide treatment to their own son, than most of the criminals who are drug addicts cannot be treated through poorly run state programs and should be incarcerated. Hunter's conviction is going to hurt not only Biden, but many Democrats at the local elections.
