Matty was roommates with George for a while, and they also often share a room when on tour, so the line in Maroon "How'd we end up on the floor anyway?" you say. "Your roommate's cheap-ass screw-top rosé, that's how" prob refers to George.

I did. I just don’t believe her, or rather I am not convinced she believes it herself. She had also said that folklore and evermore were fictional, but it’s clear now they were not. Artists are more truthful in their work than in their interviews, so I prefer to listen to her lyrics.

Matty has always made fun of the crazier subset of her fans. I think the clowns he uses in some of his videos are her fans. And that lyric in Part of the Band, “Well, I take care of my kids, " she said”. Her “kids” are her fans, whose opinion she cares about a little too much imo.

Taylor admitted herself on TTPD that it was a decade-long affair: “As the decade would play us for fools.” 🤷‍♀️

In that same song, she says “Changed…lovers…to outrun my desertion of you.” Basically confessing that Kens like Joe, Calvin Harris, probably Travis and Harry too were the rebounds, and not the other way around.

There was a video floating around of Ross (the base player) in disbelief when Matty cheekily changed the opening lyrics of Me & You Together Song at one of their concerts to "I fell in love with her ON stages, my whole life", a clue to "her" being a singer/performer. The actual lyric is IN stages and later in the song. His bandmates were shaking their heads and trying hard not to burst out laughing because Matty was being so obvious in the early months of 2023.

I discovered The 1975 after their performance on The Tonight Show in 2022. I was shocked at how good Matty sounded for a smoker in his 30s, singing while chewing gum, dancing and playing the guitar. As my DCs like to say, he’s such a vibe!
