Shen Yun warning

I've just noticed an advertisement for Shen Yun: they are trying to spread their fundamentalist religious propaganda on Jan 21-22, 2023 at GMU and Jan 24-29 at The Kennedy Center Opera House. Get your tickets now to support the Trumpism in the United States!

That's so nice of you! But you probably didn't have to spend too much money.

Shen Yun is the fund-raising arm of the Falun Gong religious cult. Very high ticket prices for a low-quality show with a side order of religious indoctrination. Buyer beware.

Proceeds from ticket sales also fund the Epoch Times online "news" website and it's pro-Trump, right-wing conspiracy theory content.

It's not funny if you have to explain it

Falun Gong was being practiced by millions of people in China until the CCP banned it. I don't agree with all of their ideas, but I don't think their beliefs are any crazier than any other religious group out there. The main tenants of Falun Gong are Beauty, Compassion, and Tolerance. The CCP isn't trying to eradicate them because they are a religious cult, rather they are seen as a threat because they give allegiance to their religion rather than the CCP. The CCP goes after any group or person that speaks out against it or tries to live their life according to their own principles and not the party's. Uyghurs, HongKongers, political dissidents, religious groups, human rights attorneys, and regular Chinese citizens that speak out. Maybe you heard about people in Wuhan that disappeared after trying to warn others about Covid (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51486106) or the tennis player Peng Shuai. Falun Gong members have also had their organs harvested - there is evidence to support this is being done while the person is still alive. They don't drink alcohol or smoke. Neither do the Uyghurs. This means their organs are likely to be in healthier condition. I wish I was making this up (https://humanrightscommission.house.gov/events/hearings/forced-organ-harvesting-china-examining-evidence). Instead of complaining to the Kennedy Center about how you're offended by this group's message, think about researching this issue more, then ask yourself if it's ok to continue buying stuff from a country that is committing genocide, eradicating religious groups, using forced labor and harvesting organs. Where is the outrage about that?

This is whataboutism at its finest. I never asked to boycott Shen Yun and instead buy more things from China. I don't agree with the Chinese Communist Party propaganda, but that doesn't mean that I should line up behind the Shen Yun propaganda. The enemy of my enemy can be just as sneaky and dangerous as my enemy.

Do you have any background in diagnosing people who need help or this is just a gut feeling that I need help because you have a different opinion than I do?
