| OP you really need to educate yourself. |
Gross. 🤮 |
I like the suggestion that the OP might be uneducated. Because - of course - if people have a different opinion - they must be uneducated. Are you here just to insult, or you can point out some resources that could be used for "education"? |

Like Tiktok, we need to ban Shen Yun.
Youtube is full of Chinese ticktocs. When I spot them, I just "swipe left". The Chinese are trying to indoctrinate the world. "Secret Asian Man, On a mission from Chairman Mao." |
While I don't like either Tiktok or Shen Yun, I wouldn't go as far as to say that they share a common mission, especially not one from Chairman Mao. Shen Yun clearly speaks against the Chinese communist regime. I would probably support Shen Yun if they didn't spread the ignorant, fundamentalist religious message. |
| Shen Yun will be back in Washington. Do you want to support "art" claiming that atheism and evolution are evil? Give them your money! |
|
Thank you for the annual bump.

Shen Yun has always been known as a major mouthpiece for Falun Gong. If you don’t know this going into it, then yeah, you do need to educate yourself.
However, they don’t hate China. They just hate the CCP, which I’m all for hating. |
Besides the CCP, they apparently hate atheists and evolution... |
| Are you using reverse psychology, trying to get us to go ? |

I appreciated the warning as have been bombarded with publicity mail about the “unique Chinese cultural experience”.
This year I have not received any glossy mail for them. I am a Christian but strongly support science and respect the beliefs of atheists. I also find the messaging off. But the most alarming information about this show relates to the cult’s exploitation and mistreatment of their child performers. So thanks for the warning OP. |

This is one of those things where just because someone you don't like is against them doesn't mean they're good. Yes, the CCP oppresses Falun Gong. But that doesn't mean Falun Gong itself isn't an abusive cult.

It was hugely in fashion in the US to attend these shows during the years when there was a thriving china adoption program. People believed it was a way to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, and they took their families to the show both before and after adopting, thinking they were honoring their commitment to appreciate their adopted children's background. When you went to China for your official adoption trip they also had these similar kinds of required cultural appreciation activities. Everyone had to start in Beijing and see The Forbidden City and The Great Wall, for example. I went to Shen Yun one year when my adoption group self-organized a "field trip" to our local city (when our girls were like 4) and it was all white people in the seats. And it was in the theater district right next to the city's China town. The Chinese people themselves in the US weren't impressed. They knew what was up and were just happy we crowded in for dim sum before the matinee. |
| Is this not common knowledge? |
