Why aren't they dedicating more time to the financial grift?

Since no one seems to be moved by ethics and morals on the Trump side, perhaps the electorate who donated hard earned money will only be persuaded by this the financial fraud aspect of this.

I'm not sure they mind being fleeced to finance the lifestyles of these shameless con artists. After all, they continue to send their cash to the NRA to pay for Wayne LaPierre's private jets for his family to vacay in the Caribbean.

It is very hard to admit you've been conned. It's embarrassing.

The more this goes on while other much more serious issues are ignored, the more conservative I become.

The more that is revealed about the Republicans' plan to overturn the election results, and the more that we learn just how deep the rot goes, the more conservative you become? Seems like you weren't particularly liberal to begin with (nor a particularly deep thinker!).

I know what BS smells like

LMAO thanks for the detailed and persuasive analysis

what is more serious than the losing candidate trying to steal an election he lost? and the other issues (i guess you are referring to the economy and inflation) they are not ignored and the US is facing them like all other major economies in the world (and everybody else, and at least we are not facing starvation)

DP.. this is what liberals don't get. A lot of people don't really care about our democracy. Money trumps everything. They care more about day to day living, having sh1t to buy, than whether our democracy is under threat or there is a corrupt dictator in the WH.

Germans circa 1930s is a perfect example of how people really don't care about real freedoms.

Americans have never lived under an actual dictator (thankfully, Trump was hamstrung by external and internal forces), so they take our political system and the thin veneer of a civilized society for granted.

This is why many people who lived under the former USSR would rather go back to that than the type of "democracy" they have now because at least back then they had government rationed food. When "democracy" came, it was harder for them.

People are willing to look the other way if they can be guaranteed their creature comforts. It's also why Melania Trump looks the other way from Trump's many infidelities and corruptions.

Well, okay. That's a snapshot of today.

But on January 6, the insurrectionists weren't looking for lower inflation or food. They wanted Trump to steal (stop the steal) the presidency.

Barr has been saying that there was no evidence of election fraud since shortly after the election This was published by the AP less than a month after the 2020 elections:
https://apnews.com/article/barr-no-widespread-election-fraud-b1f1488796c9a98c4b1a9061a6c7f49d

Barr has contradicted Trump in public and withstood Trump's ire.

If you read this article in The Atlantic, Barr gave an interview in June 2021. While he didn't come out and say that Trump was "detached from reality" the description of his meetings with Trump show him to be frothing mad. Barr described explicitly someone that was detached from reality. He (Barr) had told the President multiple times that Trump had lost the election and that Trump lost the legal challenges because he hired a "clown car" of attorneys and that no attorney in their right mind would come anywhere near Trump's case. And Trump still talked about Barr betraying him and refused to believe or acknowledge that he lost the election. He kept reaching for more and more outlandish excuses and challenge that were all knocked down like bowling pins in courts across the US. The Atlantic article definitely paints Trump as a lunatic and this was all taken verbatim from the interview with Barr. So he wasn't holding out until he was subpoenaed.

It’s as devastating for Barr and the rest of the GOP. They knew full well what a disaster Trump was.

But i bet Barr still votes for him if he's the nominee in 2024.

IIRC he said so in his resignation letter.

Just because you were issued ration coupons by the Central Committee didn’t mean Soviet stores had meat, sausages, flour, sugar, salt, butter or soap to actually buy. Ask Gorbachev about inflation and the perestroika years.

Meaning most of the traitors in jail from 1/6 is due to geotracking, that’s how accurate it is.

The only thing that concerns me is that coming out right away and stating that there was no fraud and it was the cleanest election in US history can’t possibly be true, because there is some fraud in every election. It just fuels the fire.

I am very concerned about the lack of security that day. I understand Trump asked for extra coverage in advance that day and it was turned down by the house. Is that true?

The fact is that the fraud that happens is so de minimis and individualized in rare cases that it has no statistical sway on election results. Sure you can trot out 30 to 50 individual cases around the country in any given, but that literally has close-to-zero bearing on the results.

You don't throw away voting rights and democracy just because 30 to 50 people cheat every four years. I mean, that's insane.

Trump wanted to place federal troops under his control at the House. Gee, I wonder why the leaders of Congress turned him down? They all already knew he was going to attempt an insurrection. Putting federal troops under Trump's control at the Capitol on January 6th was even more dangerous.

I haven’t seen any citations suggesting or showing that Trump asked for extra coverage that day. To the contrary, Trump made it more cumbersome to call for reinforcements. I will find that citation, and paste.

There’s GOP fraud in every election, that much is true.
