College and University Discussion
As someone who came from an extremely dysfunctional middle class home that was sometimes dangerous, as someone who worked for universities, and as someone who has need to correct the misinformation and exaggerations by reporters, I'm team student. I've seen a bunch of comments on this thread that she lied on this or that essay/application, but I haven't seen those documents so I don't know that those comments are correct. |
| Do you literally need to read every source document to believe something? That's an interesting approach to life. |
| Journal of higher education not college board |
Really? If someone writes "she's a psycho. I read she lied on x, y, and z." that's enough for you to believe? It seems like a complicated case and I don't feel like I know anything for sure, but I'm not going to label someone a pathological liar based on gossip. I am also a historian, so, yeah, if I read something in an article that seems off, I will go seek out other confirmatory sources before I form an opinion. |
| I think it’s funny that PPs that hear something they disagree with say cite that or prove that! Do your own research. Google is your friend. |
If you read the Chronicle article it says she was in a neck brace for a time and they quoted a nurse who said she helped her wash blood out of her hair. I think she exaggerated the extent of the injuries for the essay (whether that's artistic license or being a dirty rotten liar seems to depend on whether Penn is proud of her at the time the statement is made) but people pretending she was never hurt at all are confusing as hell. Is it just a black and white view of the world: she's either the most victimized person in history or it's completely fabricated? She collapsed at school, spent 3 weeks in the hospital, she was removed from her mother's house by CPS. There's no honest reading of the facts that comes up with "nothing happened to her at all." |
| Questbridge ought to claw back the scholarship it sounds like she stole under false pretenses. I'd bet anything there is ZERO chance she told Questbridge her mom was an M.D. Instead of being content with stealing a full Icy League undergraduate scholarship, she doubled down and tried to steal more. What other internships and fellowships and scholarships did she pursue the last four years? Go watch American Greed, this gal seems to fit the profile of basically every schemer featured on that show. The lies and theft tend to only get bigger as they go on. |
Yeah, let us just pull up all of her internal college documents from age 17 onward.

It doesn’t matter what your mom does when you are a ward of the state. |
Hi PENN! You screwed the pooch on this one. |
Most psychopathic liars end up in Wall Street … you seem to not care they cost the US - $1B / day. But sure convince me you care about foster kids. |
You seem to be trying to lie for her. Are you the schemer? Because admitting your mom was a Medical Doctor would have thrown off all sorts of red flags and skepticism to Questbridge. Of course she lied on that Questbridge app, it is an exhausting app. |
| Is her father alive? Profession? |
DP but what are you on about? She was a ward of the state when she applied to college. |
