Can there be an Atheist forum?

Considering atheists don't believe in anything, but like to come here and smack down religion, couldn't they just have their own forum?

I'd like to see this as a "support" forum, such as the SN forum is defined, not a place where religion is consistently challenged.

Anyone agree?

It's the "religion" forum, not the "only very religious" forum. If you have a problem with people discussing ideas about religion, even if you may disagree, then may I kindly suggest that the problem might be your insecurity?

Lots of people like to discuss religion, theology, spirituality, and cosmological things - you don't have to be religious to taken interest in discussing those concepts.

I might be on board, mainly because there are some very disruptive atheists here. Many atheists on DCUM are thoughtful and interesting to talk to. Unfortunately, all it takes is one bad egg, acting in bad faith so to speak, to disrupt the entire thread (see the Get to Know Jesus thread). I don't mind the mockery, it's when some disruptive person derails an entire thread and the conversation shrieks to a halt.

I doubt, however, that creating a new Atheist forum would solve this problem. It isn't going to stop people like that Jesus thread derailer from coming over to the Religion forum to continue with the derailments.

Maybe you there should be some way of separating atheists out of the general population, and punishing them somehow?

Look at what happened when Jeff finally agreed to an AAP forum.

The mocking and fighting just got worse. Every single thread, even the most innocent gets derailed by conscious and mocking vitrol.

This will not fix the problem.

Thoughtful athiests shutti g down the zealot atheists might. But I doubt it.

Well, there are Atheists, and then there are Evangelical Atheists. Generally, Atheists don't feel a need to force their non-beliefs on others.

It has been my observation that on DCUM that street goes both ways.

Your words, not the OPs.

But what would we talk about in an atheist forum? Post threads congratulating each other on being correct?

All I ever do is challenge misinformation. If someone on the general parenting or nanny forums holds a mistaken belief, I correct it. That's all I'm doing on the religion forum too.

I don't agree. If you want a one-sided Religion forum, create it yourself.

Yes, you atheists are victims! Good derailment attempt!

Do you mean the person who presented scholarly archeological evidence that does not support Exodus or the person who railed against him?

Either way, seems to me that that people of different religions - or even the same religion - disagree about things all the time and that these forums are not about just about supporting certain beliefs but discussing religious issues in general.

Does derailment mean disagreement?
