My kids (plus me and my husband) LOVE salmon cakes. Honestly, I think I like them even better than plain salmon. Here is the recipe...I've made it with and without the sauce, and I don't put in the herbs/spices but put in extra lemon:

This cedar plank salmon with apricot glaze ROCKS. Very kid friendly too if you omit the jalapenos. |

This is the favorite in our house.
Grilled Orange-and-Bourbon Salmon This easy grilled salmon recipe gets its sweet, mellow flavor from the marinade of bourbon, orange juice, brown sugar and soy sauce. Cooking Light JUNE 1999 Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 1/4 cup bourbon 1/4 cup fresh orange juice 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup chopped green onions 3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 2 garlic cloves, chopped 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets (about 1 inch thick) Cooking spray Combine first 8 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag, and add salmon to bag. Seal and marinate in refrigerator 1 1/2 hours, turning bag occasionally. Prepare grill or broiler. Remove salmon from bag, reserving marinade. Place salmon on a grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Cook 6 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, basting frequently with reserved marinade. |

My kids love this seasoning on salmon. Plus, it makes for a super quick dinner. Sprinkle on seasoning and stick it under the broiler.

| Google Mark Bittman's roasted salmon. Simple and tasty. During the summer we sprinkle it with dill from the garden. |

My husband makes some awesome grilled salmon with an apricot jam glaze that my kids love.
I think he just mixes a bit of apricot jam with a bit of soy sauce and sometimes garlic and/or ginger. The adult portions also get red pepper. Occasionally there is maple syrup involved, but that might be without the jam. In any case, he just brushes it on the salmon before grilling. |

I skip the veggies and make my own recipes for sides, but this salmon is off the hook: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Salmon-Bulgogi-with-Bok-Choy-and-Mushrooms-242481

Mix coarse-grained Dijon mustard with honey, and a splash of Apple cider vinegar if you feel like it. Mix well and then slather on top of salmon fillet. Cook for about 18 minutes on 375 or until done to your liking. Honey = kid gobbles it up.

| My MIL sprinkles thyme, garlic powder and salt, bakes or broils (I bake). Squeeze lemon juice over when done. Serve with horseradish sauce (little bit of horseradish in sour cream and mayo - it's better if you make this in the morning). My 3YO inhales this... |
| We go super simple - wrap salmon steaks filets in tin foil with sliced lemon, butter, salt & pepper - and toss them on the grill! |
