I wouldn’t be proud of being a mean girl. This thread has been hijacked by that website with their sugars that despises W&K, even to the point of using the phrase” incandescent rage” taken directly from it. |
What on earth are "sugars"? And are you aware that "incandescent rage" is a common term in the English language? |
| I really don't understand posters' animus toward any of these people. They affect our lives here in the US so very little. Can you offer any calm, measured, logical arguments for why you feel such rage toward them? It strikes me as super weird. |
You are seeing things in a very black and white way. People are more complex than that, and most of the critical posters are not raging. The topic is complex. I’m Canadian. I haven’t posted any “hate” posts. I think their kids are cute and I report negative posts about the kids when I see them. I like some of Kate’s dresses and I think she is elegant. I also think the day when Canada is not sending these grifters money cannot come soon enough. And yes, I have a personal interest because Canadian tax money supports the monarchy and I think it is an institution whose time has passed. I probably wouldn’t even read this thread if I wasn’t Canadian. If Canada leaves the Commonwealth (fingers crossed), my interest in these two will plummet. If they are self-sufficient, I care a lot less. |
| I haven't seen any "hate posts" or "rage" in this thread directed at the Cambridges. Snark/criticism =/= rage. |
The commonwealth leaving isn’t a bad thing though. These are former colonies OF COURSE people are enjoying the countries leaving. I mean do you celebrate July 4th? Wait to you hear how the US became an independent country…. |
Because it wasn’t just for her it was for the whole Middleton clan. Without Kate being royal Pippa wouldn’t have been able to marry someone like James Mathews and without him James Middleton would have no suckers to invest in his latest flop. Carole and (can’t remember the dad’s name) would also not have been able to afford their current place which William broke his trust to pay for. It actually makes sense. |
See this is still nuts. If an American's answer to "Why are you posting crazy bitter stuff about the British Royal Family" is something that takes sides in a perceived feud between the brothers and their wives because you've chosen teams and will defend or attack accordingly, something is still very wrong with you. |
What rage? Posting comments on an empire falling apart is keeping aware of history. Though I guess when Rome was burning and the Boston Tea Party was pushing off you'd be sipping tea and discussing the latest fashion - unaffordable to the masses instead? Silly goose. |
Ma'am, this is the Entertainment Forum. |
|
It tickles me that the whole of the UK is going through a crisis to the point that celebrity chefs are telling families to cook ramen noodles for dinner and the Secretary for the govt is advising them to get THIRD jobs. But it never ever comes up that the Queen's 3rd son has a 40-bedroom mansion he's sitting in.
Get rid of Bagshot and Chequers and send that cash to families.

And I find political history entertaining. Almost like watching Bridgerton live without all the sex. Fun times. |
| As a Canadian, it is hardly “rage” to wish the Commonwealth would end. That’s a remarkably ignorant take. |
I'm not seeing rage. Disdain and snark, yes. Frankly, all of my rage is expended on Putin these days. I used to be able to compartmentalize my opposition to monarchy as a general principle and just enjoy the pageantry of it, the clothes, the adorable photos. (After all, it's not my government and tax money.) All of the scandals and bad, dysfunctional behavior of the royals, though, has killed the fun of it. There is also a big overlap between monarchists in Britain and Brexiteers. The racist, xenophobic tinge of both just compounds the impression, so there is a bit of schadenfreude at seeing all of this play out. |
Gosh, maybe you can finally use your NATO membership to protect you from the Russians. |
