Trump 47 Economy

I actually just got a raise this week. Yes, it will surpass inflation by a long shot.

Our DC is a 2026 grad and has a job. We took them out to an expensive dinner to celebrate.

I don’t care which party is in the White House. I simply keep moving forward the best I can and spend a lot less time complaining and worrying than most people here.

Interesting, nonchalant, uncaring position when so many others are suffering. I vaguely remember my very own sister saying something similar to what's in bold. She was given a pink slip a year later under the guise of downsizing. The more likely story is that she was at the top of her salary cap because someone nearly twenty years younger was hired in a similar position three months later. It took her nearly two years to find another job at a lower salary, and that was after dipping into her savings and 401 (k). Life can hit hard when we least expect it, so PP, it would be okay to avoid being snarky or overly high-minded when discussing those who have lost their jobs, income, and are feeling a bit uncertain. You never know when it can happen to you or someone emotionally close to you.

I would tailor my delivery to my audience. This particular audience has its hair on fire unnecessarily.

If people are not seeing that this country is on the path to being Russia, then that is simply a lack of either caring or ignorance. either way, if you are white, Christian and have a net work over 2 million, then no, none of this is going to impact.

For everyone else, yes it will.

Enjoy your privilege.

You're fine right now, but there's no reason to think that will last. Tens of thousands of layoffs are happening across industries every month, and there isn't a hot job market waiting to absorb them.

This thread isn’t about your personal financial situation, but great I guess?

Everyone on DCUM is not equal, politically or economically. You have an audience of some who are doctors/lawyers bragging about their half-million dollar salary and 10-million dollar portfolio, while other posters who are middle to higher income government workers earning between $60-210k in annual salaries, are concerned if their 2% COLA will cover their increased health insurance premiums. And then other posters or lurkers are just trying to find the best public school to get their kid into because they don't have the funds to get their kid into one of the private schools that have a dwindling view, and few bonuses. The DCUM audience includes Lara Loomer MAGA, Massie Republicans, Bernie Democrats, Murkowski Republicans, Rand Paul Libertarians, Warner Democrats, and everything to the left, right, and middle of them all. So PP, which DCUM do you speak?

K-shaped economy. We are heading for some sort of uprising against the rich conservative elites.

It does not help that billionaires are viewed as protecting their assets and being unwilling to donate more than ever or engage in philanthropy. I think we may be headed for a complete uprising. FWIW, it was the perception of the left as being rich urban elites out if touch with the working class, and needing to "drain the swamp" that got Trump elected. And yet, he has made the distance between rich and poor greater than ever and the rich conservatives in bed with Trump are the swamp.

Indeed.

So sad that other countries would rather do business with a repressive communist dictatorship than the US. We’ve fallen so far

Because the US is a repressive White Christian dictatorship.
