Things like this are becoming more and more common. Our schools and parents need to work harder to educate kids on things that can land you on the sex offender registry for life.

I assume that in the posts to follow, people will be tempted to use the boys' names. I do not live in McLean nor do we have any association to the HS. Let me remind people not to use names in very sensitive matters like this.

And obviously no names of any of the students, young women or men, should be used in a public forum.

Even the idea of this makes me sick. My friends and I in high school (mid to late 80s) were so innocent and wholesome in comparison to kids today. Of course, some teens we knew were having sex, but I seriously doubt any of them were creating porn and distributing it.

No, our parents need to work harder to teach boys what it means to have respect for women and to teach girls what it means to have respect for themselves and their bodies (If any of these girls knowingly allowed nude or explicit pictures to be taken of them. It's a big if and I hope they did not). OP, if the only problem you see is some of these kids being on a sex registry shame on you. The boys' names, especially the 18 year old, will come out and that does not bother me in the least.

+1000 These McLean high school students have no excuses. They caused "intentional" harm. They knew better. Cruel stuff.

If you think these pictures were taken against the girls' wills, you are likely mistaken. I have a 7th grader at a middle school in FCPS and I have already heard plenty of stories of girls texting nude photos to boys.

A PP here. I wonder if there are some real concrete reasons as to why the girls continue to "take nude photos of themselves." No excuses for them either; they should know better, too!

I think some of it is the desire to feel "older..mature". If you think back to when you were a young teenager, didn't you want to do what the older girls did? This is not an excuse. But teens these days are exposed to waaaay more mature content on tv, online, etc.. than I was when I was a teen. It think exposure to this kind of stuff to an earlier age is part of it.

Brain development lags behind the body. Hormones fuel the desire to be sexual. Society says sexy is what matters. Technology means poor decisions have global and long-term exposure.

You're right. Technology access has removed parental influence/supervision and replaced that with peer influence and loose privacy and social media standards.

It’s not clear whether any of the girls pictured knew that their photos would be seen by many other students.

Damn these girls are dumb.
