The best GA team in DMV is probably 2009 VRSC.

The worst ECNL team is probably Bethesda 2009s.

The two teams played at VDA Showcase and Bethesda won 2-0.

Can we move on now?

BOOOOOOOOM!

The best 2012 GA Team is SYC and the best 2012 ECNL Team is ASA and SYC won in WAGS 3 to 1

GA is winning in the younger years and ECNL is not. BOOM. This will carry on in future years due to the shift. Can we move on now

Nope sorry - SJEB/Real do really well in younger ages and completely fall apart at older ages in our area. Need a little more than one random 2012 sample for a national proclamation

So it is random when you do ECNL post but it's not random when you use GA?

Was no more random then your 09 comparison. Both local top in age groups

That was in October. Syc has slipped since then. Arlington has improved.

Will we ever get SYC or VRSC vs VDA or Arlington in every age group?

I hear VDA has

So you really want to get pedantic - the best 2012 team is The Football Academy and guess what they did - moved to Matchfit ECNL as a team (I hate it, but it is what is).

Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative

The Football Academy only ranks 14 in Soccer Rankings and just lost to Solar SC. When they can beat Solar, SD Surf, Slammers, or So Cal Blues then come back and tell me they are the best 2012 team.

Anonymous wrote:just another example of the gap in talent from the two leagues. 2010 Nationals finished their regular season today now #30 placed in Champions League in the ECNL. Last year they ROLLED through the regular season and playoffs to win a GA National Championship. The argument could be made that 29 ECLN teams could have won a GA National Championship last year (or any year). If you're in the younger age groups be prepared that every year it gets more and more clear that all the best players and clubs are in the ECNL. Don't buy into your coach or club director's crap that they are neck and neck and the ga is gaining on them. Simply not true.

Huh? The 2010s last year in GA, at u13, went 1-2 at the playoffs https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/19035/schedules?group=190772 and lost in quarter finals at the Champions Cup https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/19033/schedules?group=163911

Last year was 2023/24. You posted results of 2022/23.

Nationals 2010 won Champions Cup & National Championship last year.

Nationals also was a finalist at 2007 & 2009 National Finalist

Won 2008 Champions Cup (3rd place finish)

Was GA overall club champion for the second time in 3 years

Pretty crazy club accomplishment, very dominant.

Although they have not dethroned Michigan Hawks & SLSG in Year 1, they are doing just fine... good clubs are good clubs regardless of platform and that Midwest ecnl conference is loaded

Midwest ECNL conference is loaded? I have a bridge to sell you.

How is it not?
Michigan Hawks
Michigan Nationals
Scott Gallagher
Eclipse
KC Athletics
Sporting Blue Valley

Top to bottom all those clubs are excellent, lots of other good, can’t say there’s a single GA conference anywhere close

They cherry pick for some fact or detail that's positive then they try to make it seem like it applies to all of ECNL. With Natuonals they're digging up things that occurred multiple years ago. Will Nationals switch back to GA/MLSN now that the partnership is in play? Who knows.

None of the cherry picked details matter if your kid isn't playing on a top 50 team. It definately doesn't apply to 95% of DMV ECNL clubs.

Multiple years ago? It was literally last year.

Can’t get more recent history than last year.

Why are you quoting things that happened last year? Seems weird.

Only time will tell if the long term plan will workout or fail for GA. As of now, it seems like not much has changed. We still have another month or so but doesn't seem like any significant move will be made.

Why do you keep painting yourself into a corner? There will be more announcements and you're going to look stupid.

Also there's both good and bad clubs in both GA and ECNL. There are more top clubs in ECNL right now but that could quickly flip if clubs want MLSN.

Not sure why you didn't like my post. I don't have a horse in this race. I'm only stating the facts. I understand both leagues have good and bad clubs. Every league has good and bad clubs. I also stated the long term plan might work out for GA but only time will tell. As of right now, the gap between ECNL and GA remains the same which is a huge gap. GA and GAA has only watered down their league even more but it might work out for them. We'll see.

General FYI, only girls ECNL parents say "watered down". Other league parents welcome additional competition and growing the sport. Girls ECNL parents don't want competition because they like recruiting talent away from clubs who actually put in the work developing players.

So no development happens at ECNL clubs?

best example, 2010 National's win GA National Championship in 2024. Moved to ECNL this year and are in 4th place. These are results, not rankings. You tell me, seems like the GA is way lower level.

What GA team is beating these ECNL teams from CA and TX?

So tell me what 2012 DMV ECNL team can do any better?
