I'm getting the distinct impression that republicans think the lives of supreme court justices are worth much more than the lives of school children and teachers.

+1, although to be more accurate, republicans think the lives of 5 of the Supreme Court justices are worth much more than the lives of school children and teachers.

Hey, they’ll have you know that that court was expensive to buy and rig! You think Kennedy quit of his own volition, clerks already hired? Hell no! Do you have any idea how much money the “please put Bretty and Amy on the Court, please please” tour cost? You think the Fed Soc pays for all this itself! This was many moving parts. Of the GOP values these six losers over the lives of millions of innocent kids.

Does a man carrying a gun in the vicinity of other people's home, school, mall, shopping centers etc pose security concerns to those people or it is limited to the the people being justices? Asking for a friend...

When threats have been made against the Justices and they find a man with a knife, a gun, and burglary tools near the home of a Justice and the man said he wanted to assassinate the Justice......
Yeah, I think this is a serious threat.

What about those same threats against members of congress on 1/6? Did you consider those a serious threat? Will you be watching the hearings with interest and curiosity?

Republicans have difficulty with humor at the best of times but multiple pps making fun of the incoherent logic of the GOP is too many jokes in a row to understand and the FoxBot100 will return once the steam stops pouring out of his ears and he’s recited his talking points to calm himself.

Because HE is a crazed leftist.

The Supreme Court said Wednesday that an armed man who made threats against Justice Brett Kavanaugh was arrested near the justice’s house in Maryland.

The man was arrested about 1:50 a.m., court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said in an email.

The California man, in his 20s, was armed with a gun and a knife, according to a law enforcement official. The man, whose identity has not been released, arrived in a taxi early in the morning and told law enforcement officers he wanted to kill Kavanaugh, the official said.

The official was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The Washington Post initially reported the arrest, quoting sources who said the man also was carrying burglary tools. He told police he was upset by a leaked draft opinion suggesting the court is about to overrule Roe v. Wade, the court’s landmark abortion case, the Post reported. He was also said to be upset over recent mass shootings, according to the newspaper.

I don’t see the big deal. He’s just exercising his 2A RIGHTS!

2A rights do not include a thread to kill a Supreme Court Justice.

Um, many republicans have informed me (very loudly) that the purpose of the 2A is to revolt against tyrannical government officials.

2A applies to those who want to revolt against a Democratic tyrannical government, not conservatives. Conservatives are special. /s

But then the justices are part of the Government and taking up arms against them should be supported by republicans, unless they mean 2A should only be exercised against Democratic government....

I think the day media starts talking these kind of of stuff in response to GOP freaking out, conservatives may start worrying about easy access to guns. Unfortunately there not a who lot of media help for progressive view points yet. Until it happens it would be few DCUMers like us who can joke about incoherent conservative logic.

This is very serious indeed, but we shouldn't be too quick to act. We need to carefully consider solutions and come up with a bipartisan agreement. This person was obviously mentally unbalanced, but we certainly should not invest any money into mental health services. Here's my common sense proposal:
1) all justice's houses should have only one door
2) their kids, spouses and neighbors should be armed and posted outside if they are veterans

Honest to God, why can’t Kac just wear one of those protective backpacks?

I’d love to get Gov. Meg Whitman’s take on all of this.

Besides there’s nothing we can do about mentally unbalanced people getting guns. It’s just the price of freedom.

And, here you are making light of a verifiable threat. Just disgusting.
I can imagine if this were a red hate-wearing person outside of Sotomayor's home, you would be singing a different tune.

Oh please. He was a tourist was California who was coming to Washington DC to see the sights. If he said he wanted to kill Kavanaugh or his family, he was clearly just exaggerating. He was there to exercise his 1A rights to protest. And he was exercising his 2A rights to bear arms in the event that there were bad guys with guns around or that the tyrannical government was going to try and stop him from seeing the sights while he was visiting DC and Maryland.

This happened because of loose gun laws in CA that allowed this man to purchase a gun.

Gun laws should be strict enough that no one is able to qualify to purchase one.

The same should also apply for voting.

Good point. Rs will say whatever they need to say to get whatever they want. They don’t actually believe in any of it.
