College Decisions 2014

The offers have come in...you've had time to compare financial aid packages....And D Day is almost here!

Want to share DC's option, where he/she decided to go, and reason?

I'll start...

Acceptances[u]
GMU
Marymount
NYU
Penn State
Occidental
U of New Hampshire
Fordham
Rutgers
Temple

DECISION: UMass Dartmouth
Reason:Location/opportunity to be around a different set of people & mindsets...financial aid made it affordable

Your turn!

Shouldn't this be DC's info to share? You sound way too involved.

Not to mention that the result - a commuter campus of U. Mass. - is seriously anti-climatic given some of the other schools to which your DC was admitted. You do know a lot of people associate that school primarily with the Boston Marathon bomb suspect, right?

Wow that was a mean response, PP. I have a junior so it is always interesting and helpful for me to see these lists and hear how people make decisions. Bring them on!! I have no problem with bring super involved in DC's college choice. I'm paying. Also, my college was really life changing for me in a way that it wasn't for some friends who went to State U. I want to help DC make the best choice for him within our means. DC currently has his heart set on the least selective school we have visited--the safety. So his list might surprise you, too.

You know a lot of people think you're an asshole, right?

NYU really stands out to me on OP's kid's list. But nice to let the kids make the decision they feel is right for them. Congrats!
DD is going to a school that is such a total R E A C H that I'm actually a little concerned. But she'll never hear it from me.

Great news! I hope your DC is really happy there. What will DC be studying?

NYU is notoriously stingy with financial aid, so I'm never surprised when someone opts not to go there.

I like to hear what kids are choosing, too. Thanks for opting OP. Good luck to your DC.

OP here and financial aid was a huge factor. We also eliminated some schools because of the location, did not think DC needed to be in or near a major fast-paced city. (DC sneaked a few colleges in there we weren't aware of and would've never co-signed had we known.)

Oh...out with your list! I can handle knowing a child got into an ivy or a R E A C H. It takes nothing away from my child's list or acceptance decision.

We're all here to share.

I agree. I have a HS junior, so hearing about the schools kids choose and why is definitely of interest. Congrats to your child for making a choice that feels right.

An asshole...

OR parent whose child will not be going off to college in the fall...OR

parent whose child will be heading to NOVA...OR

person silly enough to think I/we care what they think.

I'm so HAPPY with DC and thrilled with DC's options and final choice!

Who cares what you think? Besides, all schools are 'commuter campuses'. DUH!

Did your child get accepted at any schools? Where's YOUR list?
