I'm spending money like a drunken sailor

new patio furniture yesterday, $1,300.

mulch delivery today, $400.

deck and porch getting refinished, $3,600.

should I feel guilty or is this normal?

Did you just buy a house?

Normal for a backyard makeover.

You need to plan some barbecues for the summer.

Depends: Did you budget for this or not.

bought the house in 2006. I restained the deck myself around 2009 or so and it looked (and looks) like hell. Now the deck is seriously old and turning gray and ugly. So I have a deck repairman guy coming over to make it look brand new (supposedly).

If the deck and backyard are nicer and more comfortable, maybe we will eat healthier grilled dinners there every night and have a happy family! exhale. I also want to spend money to get a fire pit of some sort and more grass seed.

You just reminded me OP, I need to order azaleas.

Whether you should feel guilty depends on if it is budgeted spending, or you are tapping into another pot (e.g. this isn't coming out of a household improvement fund that you have been regularly contributing to).

If it was a mistake, don't beat yourself up, just have a plan to replenish and get back on track, and do it.

Bid deal OP.
That's nothing. I just dropped 10k for patio furniture. 4k for a new mattress. 3k for a restaurant dinner after sons confirmation. That was in the last month.

Big deal

Skip the fire pit.

It's polluting and tacky.

I want a big round stone one, not a little metal one. I have an acre plus of trees and picking up the tree limbs is driving me crazy. Would rather burn them.

I really hope there were a couple hundred people in attendance.

Hah. Whatever. I just paid $32k for flights to Nassau with netjets.

OP you know what stretches your budget and what doesn't.
