If you can pay off the credit card at the end of the month without impacting your emergency cash, then no, you don't feel guilty.
If you have to tap emergency cash or you cannot pay the CC off at the end of the month, yes. You are overspending.

It's polluting and tacky.

This is the dumbest thing I've read in ages. Only in DC... Let me tell you PP, I'm Canadian and if you went around saying this here you'd be laughed out of town.

I found this comment hilarious. Can't wait to use this line the next time we are sitting around our fire pit

That's nothing. I just dropped 10k for patio furniture. 4k for a new mattress. 3k for a restaurant dinner after sons confirmation. That was in the last month.

I really hope there were a couple hundred people in attendance.

I think a nice fire pit in a big back yard sounds great. Just don't want the trees or houses to catch fire ...

No you shouldn't feel guilty! with the exception of mulch, those are one-time purchases and come with being a homeowner. relax....unless you live paycheck to paycheck that is.

$75 a head? Wow. What a waste. For a confirmation?

Well...

We have two kids and due to a medical crisis last month, I missed a lot of work and if I have a job without benefits (including PTO/sick pay). So we can't pay our rent this month and are looking at being evicted.

I guess it's all about perspective.

Not at all. We are well off and enjoyed treating our family. They have a great time and so did my son.

OP, do you normally brag brag about your spending?
That's odd. What's even more odd is that you really haven't spent much.
