ECNL moving to school year not calendar

My kids coach held a meeting last night for parents. The tennor was pretty somber his message was clear most of the kids on the Tean will be moving to B&C teams next season. They have 5 trapped players the year up and they are coming down plus all of the other clubs trapped players coming for their spots. My sons team has one trapped player. Both teams are top 20 in the country.

No announcement from USYS, the season ends in June, but the coach is telling the team this now?

Talent, skills, soccer IQ, work rate, discipline long term and motivations doesn't care what Quarter you're born in.

You can only kick and outrun the late developers for so long.
Then hello physical advantage wall.
RAE does care what quarter you are born in. And it isn't just late developers. A kid will almost always gain size, strength and soccer skills in 6 months. RAE is just physically exacerbated around puberty.

Youth soccer going to school year dates.

Parents never had a vote in this, you or those enemy parents on the other side.
You lost. Time to get over it.

BY parents here displaying a classic case of psych projection. The SY argument has always been around misalignment logistics and social dynamics across grade levels. But the BY people just keep claiming it's all secretly about SY people selfishly trying to get a competitive edge, which simply puts their own motivation on display.

Feel free to continue to lash out claiming other kids just suck at soccer, if your process has moved on from denial to anger. But SY proponents just don't care about that attack as much as you think they do. They just want a fair and fun system, and if they are on a B team, the bench, or left un-recruited by Stanford and Duke, so be it.

"social dynamics" is for band and drama club

Is this a real question or some AI bot nonsense?

Just never heard of anyone at any level developing technical skills or tactical skills naturally just based on the passage of time.

2010 SD Surf has 5 to 6 trapped players from their NL and 2 RL teams. They will take over the 2011 NL spots.

Yeah... It was "Vote is happening weve been told its a go".... Everyone is going to shop clubs now. They already started reaching out. I expect the vibes to suck from here on out as people fight for spaces and sopts across the area.

Have one kid in high travel and one in rec. But you as a parent should recognize the level, desire, and environment that is best for your kid. Then drive them there and leave them the hell alone.

This makes no sense.

The top competitive teams have players from all over a geographic area. It's highly unlikely that they all attend the same high school.

This is the problem, town/rec parents are weighing in on something they don't understand or comprehend.

All the parents I know on top teams are apprehensive about changing to SY. Nobody is jumping for joy at playing down at least on the sidelines and in conversations. Maybe they come here and act differently.
Change can be scary and boy, everybody understands what a change means here so much that those losing something are trying to throw sand in the gears (who wouldn't in their situation).

Latest ECNL podcast again discussed advantages of going to SY while comparing U.S. and international situations.

Changing to SY for players and parents on top teams in top clubs over U13 has very limited appeal.

I bet most trapped players on top teams would choose to stay with their team than play down. Looking forward to playing down is just not in a high level competitive players DNA.

What wishful thinking from a Q1/Q2 parent. In your logic, the current Q1 players should play up in BY to be high-level competitive. After so many years, I only see one kid play up in the B team.

I'm guessing PP never considered current Q1 kids to be "playing down" before. But, yeah, according to that logic they are currently playing down, which according to their sentiment is shameful.

Appeal or no appeal, cool guy posturing doesn't matter. Change is upon us.

Top team Dec. bench player here. We watched several younger ECNL games. The one-year difference is huge. My kid is only Q4 and a bench, he can already see him as one of the players on the younger team. Just imagine when Q3 kids move down. It will be a massive overhaul of the top team.
